This is a hi-spec instal and by no means is it representitive of what needs to be done to fit these engines, this is on a racecar where we look for the best ways of fitting to aid handling, The Duratec is such a light engine that for road use it dosnt need to be moved back

How would you get on if it wasn't dry sumped??

Dunno.. never done a wet sump instal... but as the crank is above the sump .. i doubt if it would raise the engine up much

RChambers
19-09-2006, 14:46
Yep the crank is completely in the block so you would only need to allow for a bowl for the oil and that would be behind the crossmember anyway :thumb: Its a clever the way they designed it to be more efficient, all the oil ways are external and the crank is above the sump both to reduce power loss. If I was doing my car from scratch again I'd definately use a duratec

Never been a fan of the looks of a duratec but who cares, this is such a good install and with that spec of engine it is gonna be a seriously fast escort, both on the twisty bits and on the straights :woohoo:
