Hello.

I am making a 2.8 liter injection turbo conversion.:woohoo:

As basic I took the turbo technics 200bhp conversion kit.

But my car is a left hand drive and turbo should be mounted on the other side (there is also not enough space there)
It all should be custom.

I have:
-lovered compression
-stronger oil pump
-spark plugs
-intercooler
-turbo
-headers (in progress)
-Profile block for the injection
-vastegate
-turbo valve
-Extra gasoline (modified cold start valve in combination with wideband lambda)
-pop off

Anyone of you knows what else I need. (I am not sure how does the turbo work with that kind of injection)

Blueprints, advices suggestions and some photos would be a great help.
I have some turbo technics info, but I am not 100% sure how it goes together.

Regards,
Michael

I already have this, but million thanks anyway.

I don’t understand how to hook up the injection hatch.

Drawing shows (air going directly from intercooler to engine)
Where is the injection mounted:thinking:

Is it like this: turbo, hatch, intercooler, engine.(it is not logical)

This bad drawing shows the route of the air

It starts at the airbox and gets sucked into the turbo which you cannot see in the picture. Pipes connect the turbo to the intercooler in front of the radiator. The air then goes from the intercooler to the plenum chamber on top of the engine. Does this help?

Sure it is the only logical way to make it work.
Helps a lot. Thank you. I am just organising where all should be and I dont want to do anything stupid. Do you maybe know if it will work with normal ignition system (contact free with blue cap). Or is the turbo technics one a must have for this project.

Thanks again for the help

you will need the turbo technics ignition module. Normal ignition will not work correctly on its own.

Do you know where I could get one.

Once I found one on ebay, but seller ignored my emails, requests,....

Best regards,
Michael

Other than ebay, turbo technics parts do come up for sale on the following 2 sites sometimes.

Ok.

I bought following

-F-18 Turbo technics injection with profile block I also took the air box it has dump valve and bleed valve mounted (it came off a Sierra 4x4) also top end of the manifold has some more hooks and sensors attached.
-Turbo technics heads for unleashed gasoline (some work on them is yet to be done) are f-18 heads standard or modded?
-Turbo technics complete ignition
-v6 cologne block with 1mm rebore
-low comp pistons
-stress releaved rods
-heavy duty bearings
-crank strengthend
-custom hybrid turbocharger oil cooled (Audi S2 and fastruck)
-external wastegate-custom made exhaust stainless exhaust all pipes are the same length and turbo is mounted upwards on the right side.
-External water pump
-External oil filter with mocal cooler
-Water cooled intercooler (separate system)
-TT injectors F18 (they look standard)
-Aluminum sump with 2 liter extra capacity

Please help me with following::giveup:
-Should I go for aluminum gears?
-should I use steel head gaskets (heads are not alluminium?)
-what kind of cam do you recommend
-what is the spec of turbo technics F-18 kit I could not find it anywhere.
-What kind of oil pump do you recommend would the sporty more pressure do?

And one more thing anyone knows how much power can I expect form 17psi boost.

Thanks for your help

all i can say is regarding head gaskets is that i have not been able to find any steel ones for mine, unlike a cossie there are very few options for uprated head gaskets. I had Payen gaskets fitted an they only lasted 2000 miles with 1 bar boost.

I had a kent cam fitted which was described as baing suiable for turbo v6s and its very good.

Get an uprated high pressure pump from Burtonpower

Again from my experience i think the question is can you get enough fuel through for 17psi of boost rather than how much power can you get. I am running 212bhp and 270 ftlbs torque on 1 bar boost and the fuelling is on its very limit. I cant rev it above 5500rpm as it goes too lean and it uses loads of fuel even when ticking over. The original fuel injection system ispercy:

I was thinking about a white band lambda module and cold start valve (in the downpipe). When lambda finds not enough gasoline cold start valve pours it in. I heard this in Germany They use it on turbo Capri’s.

Injection can also be set to antilag and gasoline is pouring in when you release the throttle to cool down the engine (without spark). When you press the gas you get 1.5 meters of flame from exhaust. (It can be turned on and off). But consumption is a lot higher.

This Injections are still used for racing because of Its simplicity.

Hi Michael,

where have you got that Head Gaskets from?

Theese gaskets were custom made by an retired engineer who worked in motorsport gasket devision. I can ask him if he is willing to make another pair if you want?

i wish i could have a pair of those but i think it may be too late as another pair have already been ordered by the guy who is rebuilding my heads after the gaskets went on mine.

Hello.

The other night I was browsing on e bay and came across this.
Micro dynamics computer for cologne Turbo engines. It is a computer for the 7th injector.
Does anyone know more about this. It was for sale with complete engine so I didn't bid.

Any info would be perfect

Cheers

If I am not mistaken, that is the module for the Janspeed conversion.
Just to add confusion Miha,my XR4i is LHD which is equipped with the Eichberg conversion

So TT maniford doesent fit:)

I imagine it wouldn't because of the steering column/coupling is in the way.
You will more than likely need to get a manifold fabricated for the passenger side cylinderhead.
I found that it was needed on the Eichberg setup because the original manifold was too close to the cylinderhead, and I struggled in getting out the middle spark plug. Here it is in the making

Thanx a lot. I have some problems with mine, because I want to make all pipes the same leinght for maximum power and to avoid overheating. I am going to use water cooled intercooler.

How did you solve the gasoline problem With 7th injector or moded start valve.

Mine is just standard original Ford. Do consider, and bear in mind,my top-end rebuild has just finished and is not exactly up and running yet. I have had it running, but there is a few teething problems. The previous owner had neglected the conversion, there were a few boost pipes split. So now everything is sealed up,it is difficult to start up from cold. But that could be the fine adjustments that need doing, perhaps the fuel distributor CO adjustment screw,or the adjustment screws on the throttle body.

hello.

Today I examided what I have and started to figure out what I will order at burton.

First I would like Find out what cam is the best for me:
My engine Is post 82 And I think that I will take Road rally Injection from Burton 284 3K-7.5K.

What kind of spark plugs should I go for?
What kind of lead seats should i buy (magnecor blue) is it ok?
Can I mount Omex rev limiter to my engine?

I have turbo technics F18 kit
Do you know how much horsepower it is.What is modified on the engine.

Also injection is different, it has fuel setting screws along each injector

One more thing:

I cant figure this one out.

Here is standard distributor from my old engine next to turbo technics distributor. They are completly different.
Will it fit?

Mr Lizard Thanx a million.

I spoke with ALAN JEFFERY and he gave me the contact at Turbo technics. They will make me a custom ignition which will be able to run 250-300hp. I also bought ERL MF2 control unit form aquamist (it is 7th injector for gassoline with its own processor hooked to viteband lambda so it makes sure that it doesent get too lean).

They said that with my setup I can easily go to 300hp.

Thanx to You I have all the parts I need.

Cheers

Dont use a distributer!!! Get your self a megajolt or somilar. In fact you coudl use a megasquirt for ignition and the 7th injector.

I know that, but I have all the parts for standard one.

And I wanted a Turbo technics ever since I was a kid.
I dont want to trow all the parts away.

I am a bit sorry that I went for cologne turbo. If I didnt have any parts yet I would go for a 2.9 cosworth with 3x webbers and omex support but I will do that with my next project.

I think that a 280-300 hp is maximum for this engine. And I am confident that I will have a lot of fun with it.

P.S. (The guy at Turbo technics said the same)

cheers
