Does anyone know if a 2 litre Omega has a sump with a front well and will it fit an XE? Also will a 2 litre Omega manual box fit behind an XE, what about exhaust manifold, will that fit an XE?
I'm in the process of fitting an XE into a MK2 Cortina and need a sump with a well at the front. As i'm on a tight budget and there's loads of cheap 2.0 Omega's about I thought I may be able to buy a complete one and get lots of useful bits from it!?:thumb:

1.8s manta sump and gearbox is what you want mate,Not sure if will fit,But Rodney did a conversion on his Mk1 escort and used just vauxhall parts kept the dizzy and cut a hole in the bulkhead...
Cheap and cheerful and it works....
Bell him as he will be avle to help you and might be able to sorce any bits you might need..(He breaks Vauxhalls)
And he will know if the bits of the Omega will fit :thumb: 07958209245

The gearbox can be used and has found its way into a few kit cars, although I not sure of it size in relation to the ford boxes or the small and light manta 1.8 getrag box (the manta box is good for 200bhp so is the best value for money, just make sure its a 1.8 box not a GTE as the starter motor is on the wrong side on the GTE). 1.8 boxes go on ebay for as little as £40 for a good used box.
As for the sump Im not sure if its a front or rear bowl on the omega. If its a front then it might fit, a rear will not (the manta sump is at the rear so will NOT fit). Dont forget the FWD 1.8 & 2.0 8v lumps had a tin sump that you may be able to cut and modify to suit the Mk2 cortina.
Im currently doing a budget XE conversion using the manta getrag box so if you have any queries just ask.
