View Full Version : Curborough today
A good turn out of 5 escorts in the Old Fords Class today. 3 newbies who are definitely hooked on sprinting.
Round of applause to Jason Greenwood. He'd driven his immaculate MK1 Mexico all the way there, thrashed it to within an inch of its life, then drove home. Passed him on the motorway driving home & he still had a big grin on his face. :thumb:
Good to meet up with Gavin & Dean & see the cars.
Anyone got any pictures?

A good day's sport. Can't afford to make a mistake with Windy up your chuff!
The Mk1 was a very smart example.
Definitely a very enjoyable and relaxing day out :thumb:
Made all the late nights worth while as Fly was running perfectly
It was nice to be able to do my runs and then watch Windy and Bernard do theirs
Lots of variety of cars out there to keep people entertained

Fly was looking a bit "nose high" obviously looking for the next stage start!

I don't know what you mean :D :D :D
We did try to lower it after first practice but the spring seats had seized up so we left it. It will be a lot lower next time out ;)

I've entered Shelsley Walsh and Loton Park hillclimbs, then I'm off to Millbrook for the rally, then 2 days at Pembrey sprinting so that'll keep me busy:woohoo:

Yes that would be very helpful, thanks
Out of all the venues I'm planning on going to this year, I've only been to Curborough before (in 1992-3), I've driven a rallycross nova round most of Llandow and used part of Pembrey on a stage rally so I'll be learning all the time
Dont forget I have videos taken from the Fiesta XR2 at some of the venues you're talking about.

My best time at Shelsley (with slicks, 180BHP and 715KGs) was 36.29s
Its very much a do or die hill, with little reward if you get it wrong.

Shelsley has been totally resurfaced this season. The May event will be the first competitive use it will get!
First practice anyone????

There were some interesting cars up there on Sunday.
It seemed the Audi Sport was in a league of its own in terms of power compared to the white Scooby and white Evo.

Not having seen the results yet, i was amazed to see that the fire breathing Audi finished on the same second as my old Escort!
Wait for the official times I think!

Was beginning to wonder when there would be mention of my little hiccup at Shelsley. This will be the first time back there since, so will be a bit nervous about the esses.

Try starting out at slightly less than your opening 110% perhaps! Think of the Tarmac, it's all new. Shame to scratch it!

So my dinks in the old tarmac are gone then:cool:

Yes Windy all evidence removed!
I was surprised to see that we managed to better both the Audi and the EVO. half a second off the Subaru! Nice!
I'd have come to watch, but I'm on the Performance Ford Magazine stand with the Fiesta at FITP on the 13th May. Shame.
Not to worry, there'll be other opportunities. And watch out for that Green Tarmac. Hope it doesn't rain?

Thanks for the encouragement Graham! Not!
Tell you what, I never realised that Tarmac could look sexy, but looking at the photos on the MAC site, I wish I was there on the 13th. Looks fantastic.
I still think they should chop the trees down at the Esses. Been too many accidents there due to the poor drainage and the shade makes it the last place to dry out properly.
You'll be fine Bernard :thumb:
