following the recent rolling road shootout day at TnR, here are the figures for my 1300 crossflow

standard bore/stroke 1298cc block and pistons
bcf3 cam
big valve head, ported and polished (was told around stage 2, but dont know for sure)
lightened and ballenced bottom end and flywheel
32/36 weber with ramair filter
4-2-1 manifold (not sure what make but it isnt an ashley) single box 2" system

i cant remember steves exact comments, but it was running very very rich to the point it goes off the scale (and filled the place with black smoke), and something goes a bit odd at the top end, most likely cause being the dizzy, which i have suspected was nackered as it went through a phase of eating rotor arms and caps,

when i first bought the car just over 2 years ago it would very happily rev upto 7k, so there is obviously something worn out... most likely switch to megajolt, and maybe twin 40s although this might be overkill :D

all in all i was very happy with its 77.9bhp and 75lbft, should be very reasonable with a decent tune up and after the fueling and electrics are sorted out, hopefully it will last me another year or so untill i upgrade.

i think the high transmission losses are probably due to running a 3.54 diff which is alot of work for the small engine, this will be changed when i go to 5-speed.

Very respectable little 1300 there - great engines and I miss the revvyness of my old one till it revved a bit too much and went bang :D

I had mine on TnRs rollers a couple of years ago at a Turbosport meet and it made 75bhp and 66lbft. Can't remember the exact spec of it (all I remember is it had a fast-road cam, 32/36 and a 4-2-1 exhaust).

it will be replaced eventually, but for the next year or so i want to get it revving higher, and eek a little more power, hopefully by the next RR day it should have a better curve :)

It looks like it just needs a new dizzy mate and the carb rejetting . Twin 40's will be fine on it , my renault 8 1400cc ran loverly on them and really flew . Take it over to sanspeed if you want it sorted as they are the best with carbs + dizzys :thumb:

yeah i'll get a replacement dizzy and give it a tweek for the time being :thumb: problem with sanspeed and TnR is their on the wrong side of london for me... there is a bloke down towards uxbridge that i know is good with carbs and dizzys (he set up the punto engined fiat 500) and he isnt interested in power output so you dont get a printout, just a nice running motor :)

then probably go for megajolt, i'll leave the 40's for now, as i really want to have a go at getting the supercharger on there, and id need a 2" SU for that. not made a decision yet, but id favour it over an engine swap :thumb:
