If you hold the accelerator pedal down at a constant 3000RPM it will rev for 5 seconds then cut, then pick up then cut and so on and so on.

It does it at a precise set of timings, and is not random at all. Any ideas on what could be causing it? When you rev it, it is clean and not spluttering, it just cuts for about 3 seconds and then comes back on to revs.

To explain it in another way, it is like a pulsing effect.

It's a Transit LWB 2.5 DI (Non Turbo)

I'm going to change the fuel filter as a first option, but iv'e never known anything like this http://www.britishrally.co.uk/rally/images/smiles/smiley5.gif

Anybody got any ideas?? as its doing our heads in and i really haven't got a clue about diesels.

sounds like a fault with the advance springs inside the injector pump to me, ypur going to need a proper diesel specialist from the sound of it
