Hey guys - please bare with me - im starting to put everything back together on my mk1 but its the first one i have done and not really looked around any before either. so i'll prob be asking some seemingly easy questions in the near future.
I've got a new loom which came with my car and i am wondering what the connectors on it are for? the haynes manual is not clear as there are a few different looms and im not sure what this one is from.
I am using a DTA ecu so most of the connections will not be used but i dont want to cut it up so i'll be 'modifying' ithttp://media.turbosport.co.uk/2007/5/2007052111422044678DSC00090%20copy.jpghttp://media.turbosport.co.uk/2007/5/200705211150795289abc.jpg

Some of these are guesses (a bit scary as I have to do mine soon :doh:)
A= temp sensor
B&C connects to solenoid
D&F connect to black control box mounted on bulkhead that controls dynamo. but is in completely the wrong place, so second guess is that it goes to the alternator/dynamo. :thinking:
E= horn
After that I got completely confused and gave up :D
there must be one to the coil which is probably K and one to oil pressure sensor, H or I :dunno:
:D

I usually leave them in and just stick things where they fit. :D
Works for me.:)

Is this right (this is working from wiring diagram posted up)

A= ????
B+C = generator
D = regulator
E = Horn
F = ???
G = ???
H = oil pressure (blue/green according to wiring diagram?)
I = ???
J+K = Starter solenoid or ignition (both have same colours on diagram)

:confused: I thought G and I were for the alternator; and H Earth?

The mysterious F wire - that is the one Greymanb has had a few conversations about. If you find out, let us know!!!!!

We'll call that one "auxillary" then :)

Gray says that on some of them, it was the wire for the wiper motor, but not on his apparently. He looked at an Escort in a car park once!!!! (The owner was quite worried when he asked if he knew who owned the green escort, but relieved when he found out we only wanted to look at his engine bay! That was an M plate basic model apparently.)

James not unless its an rs loom as its on the wrong side of the car :thumb: look at it as if you were looking into the engine bay through the windscreen appeture :D
