Ive got a late dizzy-less XE. Theres a second butterfly under the one thats operated by the throttle cable, its opened electrically. I cant think what its for, my old one didnt have it,
the only thing I can think of is its for cruise control...

any thoughts??

traction control most likely,

on a production car you cant cut the sparks to control traction because of emission and other problems with unburnt fuel getting into the catalytic converters, so instead they reduce the air the engine can breath via a second electronically controlled butterfly.

thats certainly how bmw did it until they went to fly-by-wire throttles

thanks Graham!!!

So I can just take it out??

I want to use the standard ecu, will it mind if I disconnect it?,
Traction control in a Viva defies the whole piont of putting it in the car!!:D

yes take it out,

if your going to use the std ecu i would remove the spindle and butterfly etc,

but it might pay to leave the electronic box connected as the ecu may go into limp mode if you simply leave it unplugged
