..using standerd internals, coscast type, with twin 40 dellortos, sbdev manifold and possibly 3D MBE.
Low and mid end power is what im after, smoothish idle and plenty of acceleration.
Any advice would be very welcomed.:)
I'm going to try and get the highest spec available for hydraulic lifters (standard) and pistons so i dont need to do any more work or spend too much money. Not sure whats available yet, but theres a guy on migweb selling carb spec hydraulic spec cams for about £180 i think. Maybe worth a browse on there. :thumb:

will have to give that a try,
have you seen the QED website for cams? they sound nice for 190bhp!..pricey tho. Standard lifters and pistons, wonder if it would be a noticable difference tho or if i have to go for pocketed pistons
Yeah most places seem to be pricey on the cams-hence i'm a bit wary of these 'cheaper' ones, but it is supposed to be a budget build so i might try them-also going to ring John Read in Saltash as he's a very good XE builder and knows his stuff so should be able to steer us in the right direction.:thumb:

he is a very talented bloke, i had quotes from him for the XE install, but ive built the car so eventually decided to do the engine too.
I was thinking of getting the engine rebuild parts together, new cams, verniers, rod bolts etc. then ringing him for a quote to put it together for me-depending on his price-otherwise i'll do the same as you and try it myself...:D

my quote included all the parts sourced by him, it was not cheap:clint: Its all about how much power and deep pockets! Im going to be happy with around 200bhp, plenty of torque and with the axle i have it will fly how i want it to.pray:
