Am looking into 24v'ing my escort.
What is involved in this, I can get a complete granny cossie inc loom ect.
What else would i need?? what fuel pump can be used also would i need an aftermarket fuel tank because of the fuel return line.
The big problem would be the wings..... What needs doing to the inner wings?? Bulk head?? Gearbox tunnel, as i am fitting the mt75 box (rwd) ??
Cheers :thumb:

If you are only 17, how will you get insurance?
The only bits I can answer are, you can fit a return to the tank easy enough, I think the RS senders had a return already in.
Gearbox tunnel will need to be replaced for the MT75 iirc.

I agree with dave on the insurance...

I put a pinto in my escort and it put my insurance up from around £400 to £850. I'm 21 so it will be even worse for a 17 year old.

I work for a motorsport company and we would like to use it as a track/fast road car. The insurance is not a problem yet.....

What engine mounts and crossmember can be used??

Don't take my word for it (hopefully someone more clued up will come along) but the Mt-75 gearbox is quite big so a large after market tunnel will be needed... I would say for a track car the engine would need to be moved back into the bulkhead a bit to help with weight distribution... You will also probably have to chassis mount the engine so you could probably use the standard crossmember

Like i said, these are just wjhat i can think of... I'm sure someone will put me right if anything doesn't make sense :thumb:

Got one in mine. It all depends on how much work you are willing to do, what you want it for and what you are willing to compromise on. Its a heavy motor for a light car, can end up like driving a hammer! A nice zetec turbo would be a better bet in my opinion.

A guy over on www.fordpower.org.uk has a supercharged 24v in a mk2 escort, goes by the name of "cossiemk2" he'll have some advice for you, David White on this forum was building one up, but his is far less standard mk2 escort than the first one i mentioned.

Nope, mine is kept quite quiet (shhhhh). Having had various places broken into I figured any publicity is advertising what you've got!
