Right guys these are literally hot off the bender

Following on from the success of our Anglia and Cortina systems and range of manifolds people have been asking us to do Escort stuff.

So here we have the first set of developments.

This is a 2.25" system that goes with our new N/A Cossie Manifold and will mate to future manifold developments.

So...

Heres the system on the car with an NA Cossie motor in it.

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c153/105speed/Exhaust%20Stuff/underneath1.jpg

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c153/105speed/Exhaust%20Stuff/underneath2.jpg

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c153/105speed/Exhaust%20Stuff/underneath3.jpg

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c153/105speed/Exhaust%20Stuff/underneath4.jpg

As always we have picked up on original mounts wherever possible, please ignore the two brackets welded to the chassis, they were from a previous 'custom' install.

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c153/105speed/Exhaust%20Stuff/originalmount1.jpg

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c153/105speed/Exhaust%20Stuff/originalmount2.jpg

And used the tunnel to give maximum ground clearance

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c153/105speed/Exhaust%20Stuff/groundclearance.jpg

However we have also done two generic front pipes which go from the rear sections to either side of the car depending on which engine you are running.

This will help you mate to your existing manifolds, obviously we cant make a front pipe for every manifold on the market but we have made the front section as generic as possible.

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c153/105speed/Exhaust%20Stuff/GenericFronts-2.jpg

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c153/105speed/Exhaust%20Stuff/CentreRearGenOSFront.jpg
(Pinto, N/A Cossie, Duratec Generic)

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c153/105speed/Exhaust%20Stuff/CentreRearGenNSFront.jpg
(Crossflow, Zetec, XE Generic)

There will also be a 2" system available for Crossflow, Zetec and 'small' Pinto

This 2.25" will do big power Zetec (210bhp+), XE, N/A Cossie, Duratec and Big Pinto.

There are also plans for a 2.5" system for Turbo'd YB which will include a turbo down pipe.

As these have literally been finished off this morning Pricing hasnt been finalised, but it will be later today or tomorrow and as soon as it is then I'll add it to this post.

Could I have a price please for 2" for a Zetec 1.8 Silver stop complete system? You can PM if you would prefer.

Do these come with any guarantee similar to other stainless exhausts?

Thanks

probably not, a 2.5 inch system is absolutely HUGE if you havnt got a turbo unless you have a bonkers spec absolute full race engine its quite likely that such a big system will infact loose you power

I did think 2.5 was a little excessive for an XE.

When would you like a system ?

I will confirm the price on Tuesday for you

Neil whats the cost of a 2.5 Cossie Turbo System ?

neilm
26-05-2008, 18:03
Dunno as we havent done the down pipe yet, we need to borrow a car for that one

But we can do a generic 2.5" system that will finish just before the bulkhead that you could mate your own down pipe to.

Hopefully be able to confirm the pricing on that tomorrow when the workshop has costed it all.

how much for the back box ? both 2" and 2 1/4"
Which size would you sugest for a 2L Zetec?

neilm
17-09-2008, 13:05
Sorry we dont do just back boxes, this isnt ripspeed you know.

I run a 2" system on my Zetec which is ideal up to 220bhp I think if you go to 2.25" on an engine producing 160-170 you will actually loose a little power and more importantly you will loose torque

They are LOVELY bits of kit, but it is such an uphill struggle to convince people that they should spend a little more money and get a decent product that fits properly and lasts.

It amazes me when people will spend thousands building a car and then stick some shonky mild steel system they bought for less than £100 on it.

You know what they say, you can take a horse to water but a pencil must be lead.

Hi Neil,

are the X flow manifolds ready to go yet ?? sorry if you have already announced them and I have missed it :thumb:

neilm
24-09-2008, 21:13
There was one developed but it was for cars with a battery tray and the response was zero so its been shelved, it also worked out a lot dearer than our big Mass style manifold we do for the Anglia because of the number of joins in the pipes that were needed to get the pipework in the limited space.

The plan is to have a version of our big Anglia manifold done for the escort as it only needs a minor tweak to the angle of the collector to ensure the bulkhead is cleared with enough space.

We used to find that the stainless manifolds used to resonate and crack at high rpm on the race cars

neilm

Hi Andy

Thats interesting because at Birmingham Wheels tonight almost 50% of the F2 boys were running big stainless 4 into 1's and they are obviously on the power and revving hard for 25 laps at a time and they didnt seem to have any problems.

Also I've never had a down pipe or system crack on any of my Cossies and they've seen some heat in their time.

I think this may have been a problem in the past but with better quality material available today I dont think thats the case.

If it was manufacturers wouldnt offer lifetime warranty on products if they were going to get returns.

I have one of those manifolds in stock yes, but sadly they dont fit escorts without a little mod to the floor, which is why we are having a variant done to fit properly and mate to our lovely 2" systems ;) Wont be for a little while yet, probably mid November, give you a little chance to add the system to your Xmas list ;) ;)

neilm
17-10-2008, 22:53
no :stu:

We did a variant for the 'Bufty-Club' but they werent as nice and cost more money £260+VAT as opposed to £235+VAT for the big hoofin great things.

Surely you can neatly remove that little bit of the battery tray that never gets used.

Good News for all you track warriors.

Morley had Goldmember noise checked yesterday at Brands for the Retro Ford Track Day and it was 86db on the static noise test at 5000rpm which makes for a very nice track friendly exhaust.

Last thing you want to do is book on a track day, do one lap and then get sent home because you've set off the noise meters which as more and more of these 'NIMBY's get their way.

I know Bedford Autodrome is particularly tight.

So thats the only bit of good news this week.

Great news, i did a track day in an impreza and it was tested at 108dB's :D

Limit was 98dB's.

Had to borrow an exhaust bung from a fellow scooby owner or i would have lost the 150 quid it cost me to do it :thumb:

Basically yeah :D

Like a 5inch cork that secures to the tailpipe with a small bolt. Leaves a 2 to 3 inch exit plenty of flow but knocked 10dB off (just).

Well.. the good news is Piper have very recently invested in a new bender that will do 3" tube so we can get up there and offer something for the big power people, although a 2.5" system on a stage 1 or stage 3 cossie, on a T3, gives stupendous amounts of torque.

Unfortunately because of the current economic climate development has slowed down due to cash flow as I have to do everything in batches of 5.

If you can find a couple of mates who want a system then its a done deal, we'll do it, but I can no longer afford to do things speculatively like I did with the Pinto and N/A Cossie stuff.

Big Pinto was finished a couple of weeks ago and the next development slot in January is for Crossflow.

Then it will be Escort Zetec

Then it will be Cossie YB Turbo.
