Well I do like to be different so I have finally decided which lump I will be using in the MK1.

Yep, a Jaguar 3.0 AJ-V6 :D

Pretty much the same lump as the ST220 Mondeo but with a few more hp(~240)

Will probably be using vertical throttle bodies and keeping it all as simple as possible for relability.

This is going to be a long drawn out job due to lots of other things on the go but here are a few pics to wet the whistle

Loads of room to move the engine back further

Will use the Jag box if I can find one, seems the easiest option all round as far as clutch, bellhousing etc goes.

Nice choice, was looking at one of them for my car a while back, you are obviously a braver man than me! :D

Does that block not weigh more than the car :clint:
I was thinking along the lines of a BMW or Audi lump for my old Mk1 .

At least with a V6 the weight is further back, the jag block is alloy i think?

It is all Ali, put it this way, I lifted it in by hand.

From what I can find it weighs ~225lbs which is around the same as the Crossflow I think

***Also found out that PACE do a dry sump kit for this motor, better start saving :D

thats about half what mine weighs. lol

It's the same with mine, damn cast iron blocks... ;)

@ Pete: Very unusual engine choice but a very interesting project... Seems to fit into the engine bay quite well and 240hp sounds fun in an escort.
Good luck and don't forget to send further pictures.;)

All on hold at present due to me getting a bit of bad news medically, hope to be back to full strength over the winter and get stuck in.
