On the inlet side of the block, to the right of the throttle bodies, there's a M14? threaded hole in to the head. Do I need to block that off?

My exhaust manifold blocks off the EGR hole on the rear. I'm assuming this was the EGR feed in to the inlet manifold.

Is there a plug for it? Do I need one?

not sure really, we're gonna weld a plate onto the bit that we unscrewed from it to block it up

if the exhaust side is blocked you do not need to block the other one.

i personally think it needs something in it so the engine looks more complete, hence why we're doing the blanking plug.

No.
With the EGR blanking plate fitted. The EGR tube to intake manifold M14 threaded hole is blocked off. You can fit a blanking plug, which I have seen. But it is just for neatness, if you have fitted the EGR blanking plate.

graham, i've been looking, if the thread is M14, there's plenty of sump plugs on ebay that fit.

the vauxhall astra one looks pretty nice (circular head with small allen key fitment in middle)

Are you able to get a M22x1.5 grub/socket head screw, that could be loctited in the head?

Nuts. What about a brass fitting, like the ones for adapting temperature guages to blocks, manifolds etc. I've a few of those lying around at home. I'll see if one of them fits tonight. Needs to be covered up. Looks like somethings fallen off otherwise.
