Take the vacuum off of the one you have all you need to do is fix the plate that the vacuum normally pulls so it dosnt flutter.

ram a screw in it! I have got to do this soon duncan, I have got some nice alloy plate so will knock somethink up, will take pics and we can add it in to the how to articles on all the sites. Gonna do the same with the fuel pump as well.

I thought the vacum advance on a Pinto was quite alot? 8-10 degrees or so? Surely if its blanked then it will be too retarded at higher revs?

I dunno???

Work it out ! take off the vacuum and work out how many degrees it moves the plate, the vacuum only advances when the engine is under load the bob weights advance depending on revs, Its all the race boys used to do, you can then change springs or modify bob weights to suit if required.
I do have a DTA mapple ignition ecu for sale complete with required sensors £300 thats the best way to go you then use a cossie dizzy.

Get a seconhand one and do it your self you cant go wrong as they cost peanuts, the bosche ones are best.
