View Full Version : MK2 Escort 285mm Front brake Conversion
OK I developed this a couple of years ago but have decided to share this with you as this conversion rocks and is fairly cheap.
Its based around a pair of 285mm disks from Rally Design disk part number BD13/285 (£40 plain £55 drilled each) and a pair of 2wd cossie calipers £100 S/H as we all know the 4 pot cossie caliper grips like hell and the extra 40mm of diameter of the disks puts this disk conversion in the 'I MUST HAVE' catogory http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/smile.gif If anyones interested I can sort brackets and instructions out.

I assume that needs 15 inch wheels ?
I am not sure how smaller wheel you need it will defo fit under a 15" will try and see.
I am working on a cheap 13" wheel conversion so watch this space, my thinking at the min it to base it on S2 calipers but might be able to squeeze cossie 4 pots in. I do love the cossie 4 pot it squeezes so good lol

Clint,
As you know I am interested in the conversion for Cossie 4 pots under a 13" wheel, as I have the callipers and the wheels, all I need now is the brackets and discs !
OK Rob I will work on that one first should have somthing on the go by next week.
Is there no end to your talent http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/wink.gif
Clint that the nuts, I was told about it years ago, Heath offered me a set of discs but feck could I find a set of calipers?......... no way, hunted 6 months, so I ended up going for the Wilwood 310mm conversion. But I reck the calipers should be in abundance now for a price.

Clint, I've got some front and rear cossie calipers and 15" alloys - what's your cost for brackets to mount these calipers. I presume the rears are weld on??

Per I will do the brackets for £20 the pair for the front or I can give you a template.
The rears I am working on what axle / half shafts are they for?
Clint, I'm running a standard English Axle, not sure of the half shafts, but I think they're standard.
Email me your address and I'll post you a cheque for the fronts
Between April and July I want to spend some money on sorting out the engine, suspension etc - can you give me some guidance on what you'd recommend for front and rear, and rough costs - it's not going to be for regular every day use. As you knwo I am looking at buying a daily runner (hopefully that RS16i will still be available in a couple of weeks) and I therefore want to use the RS2000 for Santa Pod runs and track days, and some occasional club visits.
I'd like to keep my rear leaf springs set up. but am not sure what to do regarding rear shox and locating.

Simple for the suspension setup, Bilstien fronts converted to coilovers Adj TCA's and Anti Dive new roll bar/ rear 4 link with a panhard rod turrets and coilovers.
I you want to email me your address ill send you the brackets and instructions and then you can make sure your happy with what you need to do, you can pay me upon reciept.
Dont fancy an Orion for a daily runner ?
Sounds like a good set up. Presume I'd still be using my decambered single leafs??
Any idea of likely cost for that lot?? (just a ball park figure)
I'll email my address to you.

Orion as a daily runner - practical yes, but I'm looking for something I can put on a classic policy - that's why I'm looking at the RS16i, either that or a Capri 2.8i (my wife wont drive a MKII, so that's out of the question), and I only have around £1300 give or take to part with.
Also I want to be able to go to my local club at least in an RS whilst my MKII goes off the road between April and July.
CheeRS anyhow

Clint - I've read your section on the rear disc conversion for the MK3/4 Escorts - are you also getting similar brackets made up for the MK2 RS2K?

PS - Don't forget, I'm still looking for a set of brackets for the front cossie calipers
