This one has been keeping me busy for the last few weekends.

Regulars will remember Toppy had it up for sale for spares as it needed quite a few bits, I went to see it with the original intention of breaking it and using the running gear for a Escort but when I saw it I just had to put it back together.

It's now running, and just need the brakes fitting on the front to take it for a test this weekend.

Will post some more piccies later

Why is there a piece of rope holding the engine in ?

2quick4u
22-02-2002, 00:29
Because there was no gearbox or rear mount on it when I picked it up, so it stopped the engine tipping back a bit too far and smashing the bulkhead behind.

Took it for a drive today http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/smile.gif

drives really well, I was very pleased http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/smile.gif but was popping and farting a bit when booted. need to fiddle around some more.

Nearly finished for now, I haven't sorted the bodywork out, but it will be getting sold to a friend of mine Darren Smith, (he is the one who picked the car up with me Toppy).
I may be getting made redundant soon so it definitely has to go.

Does exactly the same as my 3dr was doing, but not as bad.

I seem to be having a run on em.

I am not too worried about being made redundant as I have a lot of restoration work to be done, both for myself and other people, I am actually looking forward to a couple of months of working on cars and bikes instead of computers.

Ohh sorry to hear about the job http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/sad.gif. U sure it was not u poping and farting http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/smile.gif. maybe where it needs a good run to clear it out?

Good job there lads have a pat on the backhttp://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/smile.gif. Its got afair bit of surface rust at the back end aint ithttp://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/sad.gif. Is it ok to pressure wash the engine+bay as i thought about doing this to mine. Anyway im glad its gone somewhere where it might be looked afterhttp://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/smile.gif .

2quick4u
25-02-2002, 15:42
The surface rust is not that bad should clean up easily and can then get a coat of stone chip or summat, those pics were taken before the jet wash, and I was pleased to see a lot of the floor came up bright white http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/smile.gif When the weather gets a bit better will get under it agin and give it a really thorough clean.

Jetwashing the engine is not a problem Toppy as long as you dont get it in an alarm (tie a plastic bag over it) give it a good soak in degreaser first and work it in woth a brush, everywhere under the bonnet and you may have to dry out the distributor cap, HT leads and coil later as it will misfire if they get wet (use a squirt of WD40 inside the cap and all the connections afterwards)

Did you have em changed? what did you use standard ones?
It drives really well, no serious transmission of road noise or bumps and handles well too.

Toppy
25-02-2002, 21:11
