I went there and felt thoroughly looked after. My car was only booked in for an hour but stayed on the rollers for over 3 as I chatted to the bloke and he checked everything - I thought there was something wrong and there wasn't.

Very friendly, helpfull and very welll informed IMHO.

I am however interested to hear other people's opinions as I have heard comments contrary to my own experience.

I've heard some bad things about them when it comes to Cosworths i.e. a mate of mine did a 330 BHP conversion on a 4x4 Sapphire, the customer said that it was popping abit at high revs, but rather than bring it back for adjustment he took it to power engineering, who replaced the brand new 803's with another new set of 803's claiming they were old (even though they weren't!!), replaced the brand new 3-bar MAP sensor, and put in one of their own chips, making the car very laggy and unwilling to go below 5000 RPM. The guy ended up paying £900 for something that could have been sorted for nothing, and having a car that wasn't running the way it could be!! http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/sad.gif Some people!!! I've also seen some of their prices £750+ VAT to fit a group A head gasket!!!! Apparently they are quite good for RS Turbo's though http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/smile.gif

I took my S1 there for a chip & 2 stage boost. Dropped it off at 9 and went back at about 5 ish to collect and it still wasnt finished. They had had problems getiing it set up properly and the chap stayed till 9PM getting it right.

They also replaced some split hoses with Samco ones for free as it was them and the Amal valve that were causing the problems.

Couldn't knock em for the service. Just the time, but then I always tell the missus I'm just popping out to sort a little job in the garage and only go back in when it get too dark to see! http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/laugh.gif

Took my old FRST to them to have the engine rebuilt, they said it would be a week. 1 week later i hadnt heard anything so i phoned them, they said the bloke that was doing the engine had gone on holiday and wont be back for 2 weeks so i could come and get it then. http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/mad.gif

2 weeks later went to pick it up, it was absolutly covered in shite, i had never seen it so dirty, it looked like they had been dirt tracking in it. When i left it it had well over 3/4 of a tank of fuel, but was only just over empty when i picked it up. They knew nothing about it (yeah right). http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/mad.gif

When i got it home and cleaned the crap off of it it was totally covered in what looked like yellow overspray, the whole car http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/mad.gif http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/mad.gif
On the phone i get with me mad head on (ie http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/mad.gif ) They did offer to respray it if it wouldnt come off but for some strange reason a barrage of abuse came out of my mouth after which i nearly broke the phone slamming it down http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/laugh.gif

So you wouldn't recommend them then?

Only kidding, I've been to a company that did almost the exact same thing. They've since gone BUST http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/laugh.gif -> http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/tongue.gif-> http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/moon.gif

Is that Power + Engineering in Uxbridge? If it isn't then don't read on!

If it is a small thing, went there to get some springs for my Cossie (it's the other side of London to me) as they were the only people local (so to speak) who had them in stock.

But the planks gave me the wrong rear springs which instead of lowering it 25mm jacked it up about 50mm! I was not best pleased, if you've tried taking rear springs off it's a time consuming business!http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/mad.gif Pretty dumb mistake to make if you ask me.

Taking out the standard size rears is tricky enough, putting in longer ones, no thank you!http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/shocked.gif

lol at Magrah, did you spray flames down the side as well mate! To be honest though always had trouble with springs, when i fitted a complete spax kit to my sierra the back was so low when i went overe speed bumps the towing eye would catch and in turn the bloody petrol pump switch would trip thinking it had been in a crash! Ended up fitting some xr4i springs that i cut down. They are still going strong with no sag as me brother in law now owns the car (which i might be buying back).http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/laugh.gif

I went there for the first time about 5 years ago in my s2, spent thousands and thousands on gearbox, full engine build intercooler and clutch etc and not only was it fast but it lasted forever.

The other thing I like about them is you can still go there 5 years on and they still treat you well and even remember me, must be my good looks lol.

5* in MY opinion.

I rate them very highly.
I've used them time and time again on all 3 of my series ones.
They do seem to take a long time about things and stuff is rarely ready dead on time IMO, but when I have got my car back I knwo it will be running sweet and spot on.

The engine in my current car was built by them in 97, and although it's done virtually no miles is still going very well.

I'd also say they tend to be pricey when compared with most other places, but you get what you pay for IMO.

i took my escort cossie there in mint condition with my electrics playing up .when i got it back it was so rotten i was a little pissed of but i was just happy to have it back .they said they changed the tps sensor but i needed to get lamda sensor that goes on the turbo .when it was driving home it fooked up .so i got this lamda sensor £125+vat and it made no difference.rang them up and they seemed to be not interested as the car left them with no running problems.so i put up a post up er and there and everyone with cossie knowledge said change ect sensor or map sensor.in the end it was the map sensor but no help to power engneering.they normally get vulcan engineering to do there engines for them .so you better of going to vulcan s for the same thing and cheaper! .ive always heared that a chap called mervin use to work there and he was the bollocksbut hes left http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/wall.gif.i dont no what pts reputations like but my girlfreinds brother had his fiesta turbo done there 2months ago and came out good and cheaper

Ah that old chestnut Power Engineering, too expensive and the only one worth mentioning is Mervyn, he is the nuts when it comes to RS Turbo fault finding and tuning, needs a haircut though, nuff said.

Steve hagger is who I use to deal with back in the day, he was A+ but Chris and Mervyn are both tops http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/laugh.gif

Reading this thread it would seem you are right Wes, even 2 years on! http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/smile.gif

Fucking shit mate. Took my money for a brake upgrade (back when they were in St Albans) and then when it came to fitting them it was obvious that they had got it all wrong sized stuff and rather than taking it off and getting the smaller discs & calipers they instead made a right pigs ear of it, and the cost went from £550 to £1200. After THREE DAYS of grinding, bending etc.. I took the car elsewhere and got it all sorted. Still have the receipt to prove, just wish I wasn't so naive at the time as to not of got a written quote.

Since then I personally (not rumours) know of three engine failures as a direct result of their work.

Just came back from my day out, and i have to say VERY impressed. The guy knew what he was talking about (his name was ian), and gave helpful advice too. Well done Power Engineering. My car made 216 bhp, and its standard, so very happy with the results.

Cheers
Mike.
