I saw this on a website, and I have done this to my own car:

It improves throttle response ( the throttle pedal feels less spongy) and changes the induction resonance sound.

1.. loosen the accelerator cable, disconnect the TPS, water plumbing, the rubber hose from the MAF.
2.. Just unscrew the Allenkey bolts, knock the TB .......it will be out.
3.. loosen the screws at the TPS, and take it out (Mark the position fist).
4.. On the opposite side, loosen the nut holding the springs etc.
5.. Loosen the screws at the Butterfly choke and slide it out.
6.. Knock out the shaft from the TPS side (its housed in roller bearing).
7.. Now the top section of the shaft can be sawed off, mark it by remounting the butterfly.
8.. The lower part can be grind or filled to half its height or less.....make sure its rounded and smooth.
9.. Remount the butterfly, screw it in and saw off the surplus tread.
10.. The throttle body can be reshaped.
11.. Reinstallation is the reverse........you'll get the hang of it.

Wes mate, are we talking Cossie!

I tell you why because on the old pinto, you did a similar think to the twin carbs, in addition you knife edged the butterflies, it used to give you as much as 4-5bhp on the 50's!
