The cooling system of a Capri 2.8i has always been its weak point and my one has been no exception. http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/sad.gif
I took the viscous fan off ages ago and put a electric one on but even when i turned it on at around 3 quarters of the temp gauge it would hold it there while stationary but hardly dropped more, so i decided to fit a bigger rad from a mk.3 Granada. http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/grin.gif The pictures below show where i had to cut away some of the battery tray, move the fuel metering unit/air box, ignition coil and cut away all the old rad mounting points which were in the way.. http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/laugh.gif http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/laugh.gif

Heres a few pics of the finished article.. http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/grin.gif
The header tank had to be turned through 180 degrees after moving it further back otherwise i couldn't get the expansion tank cap off because of the strut brace. http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif
Its all been worth it though as when i ran it today up to the 3 quarters mark on temp gauge and put the twin electric Granada fans on it quickly brought the gauge needle back down to about the 1 quarter mark. http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/grin.gif http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/grin.gif http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/grin.gif
Yes, i know the rad looks a bit scabby but i only got it out of a scrap car to use as a template but seeing as its not leaking yet i will carry on using it for now.. http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/grin.gif http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/grin.gif

Cheers Steve, took it out for a run yesterday and the temp gauge was running just under a quarter, when I got to a 2 mile dual carriageway I gave it a clearout and by the end the temp had gone down to between 1 quarter and cold. Back in slow moving traffic it returned to the 1 quarter mark, Sorted.. http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/laugh.gif
It was in all quite a straight forward conversion with no special tools needed and it only cost £30 for the rad and fans... http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/grin.gif
