did some more on it today..................need some bits now http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif
did you do the paint yourself, and if you dont mind saying....how much do you think this resto has cost you so far? and are you planning on selling it afterwards or is it purely for you
i paid a lad to paint it in my garage....but i got all the equipment like a shit hot spraygun and a heater etc to get the best possible conditions in the garage for painting
as for cost
bought the shed for £2300 exactly
spent 2k on the shell repairs
spent 1200 on other bits so far........roughly estimating the last 2
im not selling it......no chance...its all mine i tell ya....all mine....if i was going to sell it id have done it virtually standard

mmm, i'd of thought green with white stripes would look quite cool. http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Hi people,
I have been playing with my AP's again and have managed to work out that using 50mm offset bells and brackets and my 16" Borbet C wheels i can get 330mm discs on!!!
I will be going back with the 304mm discs and getting some 315's i think though, as the 330's will still need a bit of manipulation to get on which i cant be ar sed with for 15mm
Here are the piccies of the caliper spaced out as far as possible and you can see the additional clearence which would allow the 330's.......the caliper is not touching the wheel BTW...there is 1mm clearence there which i can up to about 3mm wich will still allow 330mm discs....as im going for 315mm discs i will have between 9.5mm and 12.5 mm clearence between caliper and wheel http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/smile.gif (pictures have been enhanced to increase the contrast....)

Yeah. its been a while bud
Nope! I haven't seen it for 3 months!!! I have the intercooler and cooling fans ready to fit, I have ordered the steel conrods....they should be here in 4-6 weeks, I have ordered my Cosworth forged CVH pistons....they will arrive Monday, I have ordered a group A coil and a set of new injectors......
Just need rings, head, shells, cam and a vernier, turbo and the engine is ready to build up....need a clutch to have that ballanced as well though. Then it's gearbox and a few minor bits to complete....
Looking like it will be ready for Febuary and on the road for March now. http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/smile.gif
Well here are the pistons! http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/laugh.gif Cosworth forged CVH...

I have got all the bits except....
Cam
Turbo
Conrods (still waiting although they have been ordered)
Crank bearing shells
Clutch
Cambelt
Vernier cam pulley
Alternator
Starter motor
Then the engine will be off to get machined and assembled. Then it's gear box. Then a few small items like connect the fuel pump up, repair the engine bay wiring loom then it should be nigh upon complete!
Oh and all the engine sensors...In fact I will order them tomorrow!

Why do I fucking bother!
Why do we bother providing a service http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/dunno.gif
Sorry. Am having a bad week and as you can imagine, having to upload all those pictures again onto another server when I already have it hosted while being stressed and tired just pushed me over the point unfortunately....
No worries Daz http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/smile.gif I didn't think it was your usual happy self http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/smile.gif

get much attention out and about? http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/cool.gif
should do some photos with the original alloys just for prosperity.
First few nights I got several girls round the car!! Was pretty gobsmacked cos I didn't think youg 'uns these days knew what a Series 1 RST is.
I am going to pick up my new whels tomorrow. They are a set of the origional wheels off the Datapost touring car! http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/laugh.gif
Anyone remember this old shed?

Of course daz good to see your still about mate :D
Whats happening with the car then?!!!
That looks really lovely:thumb:
Well, After the above pictures I did the following....
I fitted about 2k worth of MEF suspension upgrades,
Swapped the wheels for 5 spoke 16" compomotive MO's which then later on got swapped for some 6 spoke 16" Compomotive MO's in a different offset (found the 5 spokes were touching the coil over spring so had to revise the offset. Moved the wheel out about 7mm)
Got it all set up and played around with spring rates and such,
Destroyed several fuel pump relays which then led me to rewire the relay to switch another relay to take the load off it.
Had it detailed (see here http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=90656 )
Then due to my new found handling, I destroyed an engine as the oil kept climbing up the side of the sump when cornering hard. Found out that my sump has no baffles in it. Only a windage tray!!
So now it's in bits again!!!
Other than that, it's doing fine! :D

Sounds like you got to have a good go in it then :) Shame you popped the engine but at least you did it in style :D
Yes, I managed to get 19k miles on it before I destroyed it. There were some tell tail signs but I didn't realise just how many signs I was getting that I may be risking the engine.
Sometimes when I was giving it the old scandinavian flick, I'd get the oil light on full. Sometimes when I'd stop and check the oil I was anywhere between half way between min and max and down to minimum. So then I started making sure it was on max all the time. Then I'd sometimes think I've seen the oil light flicker on very dim for a split second as I've been cornering, but when I've looked it's not on. So I think I've been picking up air pockets for a long time. Result being a couple of spun shells and the rest being badly worn and the odd one slightly crushed.
It's just a shame I've destroyed 1 or 2 steel H section rods without ever having got the engine up to full power (still only running 1 bar of boost on a standard turbo).
Never mind though. We live and learn. Now I know I have a bit of work to get it up to standard so I don't destroy another engine.

Just a few miles then :D
These things will always happen though when you get to the point you have, as you say just a shame its killed some expensive bits
Still when its done again it will be a monster :)
