View Full Version : Awesome cheap DVD player
Saw a mega cheap DVD player is Savacentre (Sainsburys) and laughed at it because it was only £89 and thought it must be crap. I saw a review on it today in Home Cinema mag and they said it was very good and played all formats.
Just gone and got one as I needed one for the bedroom, and its very good, plays CD-R, VCD, SVCD and even my DVD+RW movie BACKUPS, the quality is as good as my Sony and I'm impressed with it.
Its even got 5.1 Dolby output, S-Video and optical audio. http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/shocked.gif
If you want a DVD player this is the only one to get.

Looks good for the money! http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/smile.gif
If you can spare a bit more then this one is meant to be excellent, The Toshiba SD220E (http://www.richersounds.co.uk/index.php?f=itemdetl.php&p=sd220r2)
I've had my eye on this little baby for months and it was bottoming out at £120. Now Richer Sounds are doing it for £99! It's a bit of a giant killer, and beats most units up to the £300 mark, according to what Hi-Fi and a few home cinema mags I read a while ago. http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/smile.gif

i got one from tesco for £100 a year ago and it plays VCD, SVCD, CDR, copied DVD's, MP3's, is multi region, and allows you to copy them to video cassette perfect quality and has all the normal features.
asda have one that does the same for £69
I got my current one from Tesco for £99, I bought it early last year. I think it's http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/shit.gif. The audio playback is a good way behind the video, making it look like you're watching some terrible Kung-fu film rather than Spiderman. The remote control doesn't work unless it's about 5 inches from the unit and even then you have to make sure you're pointing it at teh right angle. http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif
It's why I've been looking to replace it for the last few months with the Toshiba. http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/cool.gif
The Mico is damm good, I wanted something that would play DVD+RW, most players will play DVD+R but I can only burn DVD+RW so thats why I got this one.

take it back to tesco it shouldnt be doing that - mine is perfect and can stand 20 miles away with the remote and it works. my mate got a wharfedale widescreen TV from tesco last year and the tube blew, they give him the money back no bother at all.
my mate has a really flash £350 player and mine does more than his, and his blocks VHS recording so he wants to get one like mine!
