Those of you that have seen my website may have seen Smiffy's MK1 Cossie, it's been off the road for ages, but a sudden flurry of activity has seen it almost back together, and looking very smart indeed, see pics below before and after.

Looks like it will turn out very nice.
Not sure if you will know, but i may aswell ask.. What size are those wheels , 15x7? And that exhaust, where is that from?

Cheers, Greg.

Greg,

The wheels are 7X15 genuine Minilights (they do some good deals lately on new rims, the rear arches have no lip and are semi tubbed to accomodate them.

The exhaust is a Smiffy special made from whatever was lying around in the right size.

We've just put a cossie turbo in my mates MK1. Have you wired yours up yet, as we are stuck on which wires we put to power/earth etc on the sierra loom. The way we've done it is that the complete MK1 loom is still in the car, with the sierra wiring for engine managment injection etc under the bonnet. The wires end inside the car now and end in standard ford plastic conectors.
Can you give us any help? Cheers, Steve.

What would you say to a complete novice who was thinking about spraying his mk2 himself. Is there a definitive spraying reference book?

Steve,

The plastic plug you refer to has 4 or 5 wires?? if I remember, look at a cossie wiring diagram and it will be obvious where they go, you were correct leaving the existing under bonnet loom for the escort in place, connect those others and you are in business, can't remember off the top of my head though.

If it has 'connectors' then its an early 2wd loom, the two pin plug has a black wire and one other this is for the engine management light and is not required unless you want it.

The other plug has 4 wires on it from memory, a green - for the rev counter, the brown and white for the water temp gague, the black one is ignition live and the red black is the fuel pump.

the early 2wd has a separate wire for ignition live.

If it is a later saph loom the plug is a multiplug with 5 wires the wire colours should be the same but it dosnt have the management warning light but has the battery feed in the multiplug and is red blue in colour.

As I say this is from memory so if the colours are different then please list them.

Cheers Andy (Lancashire)

Thanks for the responses R.E wiring, in the end we spoke to a helpful Ford technician, who copied the loom wiring diagram for us.
It was only three wires, blue/red, black and another that I cant remember for the life of me, but first turn of the key and three weeks worth of work fired up first time.

As an update on my story, my mates escy has just done a 1000 mile plus three day trip this weekend, where the only problem was the speedo cable popping out at 125 mph, but, hey, youre bound to get some snags.
