RS Cosworth driver V Boy- racer

Iv had a 4x4 cos for 3 months now and what I thought was a one off thing certainly is not.The thing is the person in the rep-mobile,corsa,van,taxi who finds he or she has to try and pass this cosworth in front of them.It is like they have something to prove by sitting 2 inches from your bumper.The other times are on duel carrigeways when the prat in the susuki jimmy sees you coming in the outside lane and the pulls out in front and tries to out accelarate you.Before the Cos I ran an M5 and honest nothing ever wanted to race it or out-do it,but I still prefer the RS.

Surley others have had this aspect of ownership.

I had this on sunday, driving behind another car on a single lane carriage way, this red mk3 golf vr6 comes flyingup behind me, flashing his lights and indicating for me to move over, where the f*ck was i supposed to move, single lane carriage way http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/wall.gif I slowed down to 20 mph to piss him off a bit, then we got to a set of lights, he of course pulls into the inside lane. I've had my cossie about a year now and everytime I take it out someone is always trying to race me, pass me or just generally piss me off fo having a cosworth!!
I think it's just jealousy. lol

There isnt a much more satisfying thing to do than shut someone down who thinks there quicker than you,like an impretzel turbo who challenged me on a duel carrigeway a couple of weeks back.I was just ambling along at 75 and could see he was racing up behind me at about 100,as it came up to about 2-3 car lengths i dropped the hammer in 5th,it stayed quite close till 90,then it just fell way behind.The cos only has 290 brake imagine what 400 would do!

quite agree with opinions above,when i had my last 4x4 cossie it was mostly bikes who wanted the fun,now i have a 3dr it seems every max power reader wants to havrec a go,in most cases i save my petrol unless its a rice burner the let the war begin

I think that when people see it's a 'cossie' they know they are fast cars and they have to TRY to have a go just to see how fast their car is.
They know they are going to get beat yet they still have a go(it's fun though isn't it!)

I get the same in my 3dr all the time, I love the ones who pull into the next lane at the traffic lights, the look on their face is so funny when you nail it sideways snaking past em.

Thing with bikes though is I always get the opposite, when I am out on my ZX12 I get eejits in fast cars think they can have a go, there is nothing as stupid looking as a cossie/scooby/ferrari/porsche/TVR whatever driver with the demented concentration look they get as they think they are going to beat you, and the slackjawed stunned expression when you let em pull alongside on the motorway then cog down a couple and open it up, and they realise just how fast bikes really are. Too many silly car mags have been hyping up the big power cars V bikes thing, and now everyone seems to think they can outrun a 180BHP bike, don't believe it folks, it aint gonna happen.

The later 2.9 XR4x4s use the MTX75 cossie gearbox, not sure about diffs etc tho.

As far as I know the diffs are the same as XR4x4 Sierras. Even the diff on a 2.0ghia granada is the same ratio just different mountings I think . . http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/confused.gif

The rear V6 4x4 diff from 2.8s and 2.9s is the same(I believe the 2.0 had 3.9 ratio and different inner driver cups vs CV joints on Cossie 4x4 and the V6 4x4s), the bellhousing on the V6 is much different and on the MT75 boxes the bellhousing is integral, so it'll only fit other Cologne V motors.

The front knuckles/hubs are bigger and hence different on the Cossie 4x4 than all others, but the front diff and driveshafts and CVs are the same.
