View Full Version : Diff Ratios
Any one using a non standard Diff ratio ?
I have just found a 3.9:1 and am going to run with that for TOTB2 qualifying http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/smile.gif
so better acceleration but less top speed?
My ratios are standard, it's easier to swap ratios on a 2wd, as on the 4x4 you need to change the front too or the centre diff burns out. This maybe a rumour or i read it the wrong way, but I hear someone is taking 2 diffs, one with a 3.6 and one with a 4.4
are you allowed to swap diffs then ?
(not that I need to)
I am gearing so I can do 60 in second and the 1/4 in forth bang on 6500 rpm just past peak power.
I don't know, i don't see why not, but sort of takes away the "as it is on the street" basis of the event.
I think i do about 45 - 50 mph in 1st (will need to test with the new recording tacho in 1st gear) so no need to change ratios for that, just got to sort out my gear changes, too much power to get into 2nd cleanly. will have to rig up some sort of switch so when in 1st gear it only makes 23 psi boost, theres too much going on when launching hard to turn that boost switch up, more important to keep it in a straight line http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/grin.gif
I agree maybe there should be a strret legal TOTB http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/smile.gif
In gear boost control quite simple to do with your set up !
i 'd love to see project X on the twisty roads of South London http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/jester.gif
Please elaborate on this ingear boost control!
You have a pectel boost switch which basicaly changes resistance with each click, use a microswith on your gearstick to give the resistance equal to the switch position on your boost control you require, when the microswitch disengages the boost switch takes back over !
aha! I was hoping it would be something like that! I will be out there with my multimeter tonight, and off to buy some resistors tomorrow! Ta http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/grin.gif
