Can anybody tell me where I can get some brackets to fasten a set of rear callipers onto my english axle please?

Can you get seal kits for these callipers?

Cheers

Andy

Rally design may be able to help you out. Give them a call, if they cant then they may know of someone that can!!
I know they do all kinds of brake kits so I dont see why not??

What sierra calipers are we talking about here Andy?
the std front ones or the cossie rears with the handbrake facility?

Hi Steve,

They're the ones with the handbrake on them. They have number 716990 cast in them.

How the car coming on? Got the engine back yet? http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/cool.gif

I've had a disaster with paint on mine - ever seen a marble effect paint job? - mine was better than a 'Changing Rooms' one. http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/wall.gif

I got mine from Gartrac,(weld on ones)
Burtons sell a full kit (bolt on brackets)Calipers,Discs, handbrake cable and brackets etc.
You also need a bias valve unless your using a bias pedal box.
Note Burtons state that you cant use there conversion with 13 inch wheels (Escort mk1 and 2 etc) but saying that loads of people have.
Most rally part suppliers will sell them.

You can still get the seal kits from Ford.

Hi Andy,
Do you want the bolt on type or the weld on ones? only I thought you had a template for the weld on ones?
the part no means nowt to me tho' mate http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/confused.gif
If your after the bolt on ones speak to Phil or Mick Squires & RACE, they sell the bolt on kits, and seeing as they seem to sell everything else separately, I would take it they would sell the brackets separately too.
I believe Burton's may sell them separately too.

Yep, Got me engine back last week at long last, well apart from me carbs http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/smirk.gif but had some bad news at home last week so things are on a go slow again and I struggling to get the enthusiasm going at the mo' http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/sad.gif but we're getting there.

what happened to the paintwork then mate, you get a reaction? bit of a bummer after all that hard work http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/sad.gif

"marble effect paintwork" cool http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/grin.gif http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/wink.gif should go down well with the maxy power boyz http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/grin.gif

Hi Steve,

Sorry to hear things aren't so good at home. Hope things are better soon whatever it is.

Thank you for taking the time to post an answer.

I do have a drawing but its for cossy callipers using cossy disks so I'm not sure if it would work or not with 13" wheels.(don't know what disks I have - must measure them!) I'm going bolt on I think so they are tranferable when I bend the axle.

I think I'll do what you say and get in touch with the Bruvs and see what they have got.

Paintwork was the anti rust coat I put on flashing through four coats of primer and four of top coat - very upsetting http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/mad.gif - not to mention expensive - I think cheap project http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/wall.gif. I ended up taking it off as best I could and barcoating it before doing it all again - another three weeks wasted http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/sad.gif I've left the very last coat pending no reaction taking place this week. Maxy Power - should have took some pics may have got in their reader cars!

Glad the engines back http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/clap.gif - I'd be chomping! but if things a bit down better leave it till your ready.

Thanks again.

Cheers for now.

Hi Andy,

I'll try them as well as the Squires chaps.

I'm using a Bias pedal box so should be OK.

And definitely cheers for telling me Ford still do the seal kits - I'll be on that one first thing tomorrow - got to be better than the £88+VAT I'd been quoted for recon (exchange) callipers from the local motor factors.

Thanks a lot

Andy

Hi Andy,

thanks for your kind wishes, the wife lost the baby recently so as you can imagine things are pretty down at the mo http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/sad.gif,so not got much enthusiasm as you can expect, but things are slowly getting back to normal now, but it kinda puts things into perspective when these things happen to you

Anyway I was up Squires the other week and there was a mk2 on the ramp with a bolt on kit using cossie callipers fitted and it was still on 13" wheels (RS alloys)so I dont see there will be any problems in that dept.
not sure what discs it was using though, dont know if it was using cossie discs tho',but I seem to remember someone saying a while ago to use peugeot discs?

Real bummer about the paintwork mate I'd be really pissed off if it happened to me especially if I had to take it all off again http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/wall.gif
bet you wont be putting those pictures on your site http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/grin.gif http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/wink.gif
still I'm sure you'll get there in the end and it'll be a top class job! http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/smile.gif

hopefully I'll get my engine back in this weekend http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/smile.gif, weather permitting as I've got to do it outside coz me garage is not high enough for a crane http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/sad.gif

Hi Steve,

I really feel for you about the baby. I can't possibly imagine what that sort of thing happening is like. I am really sorry to hear it. I hope you can get back to some sort of normality soon - you don't need me to tell you to look after the wife and sod the car.

I rang Phil (or Mick - can't tell them apart) - they are going to chuck some mounts on the van for me to collect at the Red Dragon next weekend. Thanks for your recommendation.

As for the spray job - for some reason I didn't take the marble pictures - can't think why http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/wall.gif

I've slowed up again on the car - gone and put my neck out of place somehow (think I did it sneezing believe it or not http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/confused.gif) so I am waiting for that to get better. Anyway I have the Spring Bank week off work http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/clap.gif and the missus has just told me she can't get it off http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/laugh.gif so guess where I'll be? http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/wink.gif

Anyway look after yourself and the wife.

Speak to you soon,

Cheers

Andy

Please let me know how you go on with the bolt on calliper brackets, and whats the cost of them?
Which discs you have been advised to use with them etc.

I know all about the Burton Kits, he used Mr_Hoarders axle to develop them.

They will work with some 13" wheels, they fit with 7" and 7.5" RS alloys, and probably some others, but they foul the back of the spokes on 6" or 5.5" Rs wheels and steels, you need the spoked part of the rim to be about 30mm away from the seating flange if you understand what I mean.

Cheers Andy,

Your thoughts are much appreciated, it is hard to accept what happened, but whats happened has happened & it obviously happened for a reason and wasn't meant to be, unfortunately it happens rather a lot these days, but we've sort of accepted it now & we have to look to the future and keep on trying, luckly we already have one child which keeps us both busy and takes our mind off it.

Anyway glad your sorted with some brackets, Red dragon, I take it your out spennering for jason?

your not having much luck with the car at the moment are you? what with the paint and now your neck http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/wall.gif

Hope the neck gets better soon
