View Full Version : What power would this get me ? (spec)
I'll have to do a partial rebuild due to a valve hitting a piston and I'm thinking about a full rebuild and balancing while I'm at at.
What power would this give:
-Group A spec flowed and ported head.
-Genuine RS500 IC.
-Standard turbo (T34).
-Standard compression.
-Camshafts to suit (what would that be?).
Car is a 92 Escort Cossie by the way.
That's not exactly what I was looking for....
I thought close to 400 was possible on standard comp.. http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/confused.gif
GGR quotes 375 with only ported head. I thought cams and a RS500 IC would improve on that.
Depends on injectors used also, 803's will be 350 bhp, 403's and you'll get 400 ish bhp, but you risk reduced engine life on the standard c/r, most tuners would lower the c/r at this stage of tune.
The Standard Escort turbo at 26PSI will give a proper 350HP, to run it at 30psi you will need a 360 degree bearing and then 380HP will be available. The T34 runs out of breath at high rpm so if you cam it you move the power away from the turbos window. A hybrid is the answer for 400HP.
The figures I quote are what I have seen maybe GGR do things differently.
GGR do things differently
They certainly do, but not in a good way.....
ok. I forgot to say that everything outside the engine was optional... Except the turbo-size.
I have always been happy with GGR so I'll use them as long as they things as good as they've done so far. Too bad you're not happy with what was done.... I should imagine that they'd take responsibility if they did somthing wrong.
well you imagined wrong, they took no responsibility for the headgasket failiure (4 layer WRC itmem), basically saying it was my fault for getting someone else to map it http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif , i only went somewhere else because i'd of had to wait 3 months to get it done by them, it also had a top end misfire, so i was quite anxious to get it sorted after paying them LOTS of money in the 1st place! And also they put the dizzy in the wrong position when they built the engine, i didn't find this out until i had the head off to replace the headgasket, it was out by two teeth! No wonder i had a top end misfire that i couldn't trace! I have had no problems since i repaired it myself.....
As an outsider I kindof can understand them on the headgasket thing. They can't know what has been done. But they should fix it no matter what because the customer is always right.
The dizzy fault is plain old sloppy workmanship...
I'm sorry for you.
I've found them to be good on some things but poor on others, i can't fault the mail order side of things, always had parts arrive on time with no hassels.
I have only used the mail order service so far and as you say, it is excelent.
Thought about having my head ported/overhauled there but not sure. Any other places that do their work 100% and can send by mail/Fed-ex or similar ?
Turbosystems should be able to help you, i have no reservations about recommending them! E-mail Tony: turbosystems@turbosystemsmotorsport.co.uk
