Been offered an axle off a scimitar, and was wondering what would need to done to get it to fit in a MKII shell that I am considering for a cossie conversion. Will it be too wide?, could I get away with fitting forest arches?

Probably doesnt help - butI thought a Scimitar was more a less a Capri, so i suppose it's about the same size as a Capri's?

The Scimitar came with a couple of types of axle.
The one to go for is the type '4HA'
Think it was on the earlier ones.
Later ones had a '2HA' type i believe.
This is the same as on the mk2 Jag's.
It is one mighty axle with great thick shafts, OOOH EERRR,
and is avalable in nice 3.54:1 ratio.
Most of the jags came with the 'power lock' dif, which is a very nice plate type LSD so you can fit that to the axle.
The beauty about the 4HA from the scimitar is that it is the same width as an escort 'english' axle!!
No wide arches needed.
They are 5 stud hubs though so will need maching to suit, and also machining to accept a brake disc.
Obviousley, the tube will need to have all its scimitar mopunts removed and escort spring saddles welded on in place.

I run one on my escort mk1, no probs.

Cheers,

Oh forgot,
the prop mount holes are a diferent pcd aswell, so an adaptor plate will need to be made.
Basically, nothing fits straight on, it all has to be made to fit.

Cheers for the answear, I will have to have a look and see what age the scimitar is, but think it is a later one, axle is probably free so may just pick it up regardless
