Have any of you guys put a Cossie 4x4 engine in an escort rst? Im gonna do it in mine and wanna clear up some bits and peices?? please help! lol
Heres a few things to get you started mate,
Floor pan? mod existing one or graft in a new one, ie 4x4 escort cosworth or MK5 escort rs20004x4
Front struts, either get some from Gartrac( if they are still available) or use sierra/Mk2 escort ones
Diffs, depending on what floor pan you use, either one off items or cossie stuff.
Gearbox, normal sierra 4x4 box should be ok
Prop shafts and drive shafts, i think most of these are going to have to be either one off, or scout around other vehicles ie gti-r etc
fuel tank will have to be moved into the boot.

cheers scott ur a star! gartrac dont do the struts any more. but uve given me a good lot to be looking into. Any one else got any ideas to make this easier??
Didn't the 4x4 RS2k have a transverse engine? therefore not suitable
It might be cheaper to buy a shell already converted for 4x4 cossie stuff, they do appear for sale now and again.

isnt a cossie engine mounted transverse?
isnt a cossie engine mounted transverse?
er, no.
If you want it to be easy, don't do it. Buy something already done.
Are you wanting to turn your escort into 4x4 or keep it front wheel drive?
Sapphy he wants to turn it into 4x4,
If you use the rs2000 4x4 as the base for the floor pan and diffs etc, you could allways then fit a nice duratec engine as per WRC Focus's
By far the easiest option for it is to find someone who has the shell allready modded. BUT half the fun of doing these sort of conversions to our cars is the fact that WE have done it, or at least had a hand in creating it.
Just a thought, but what about buying a Gartrac G3 ( MK3 escort RWD) and then only having to convert some of it to run the 4x4 system, as the engine bay will take the cossie engine, as the mounts and front struts will all be in place, as will the main tunnel. I am sure that it woiuld take a great deal more to get the power to the front wheels??
there is a company around the leicester area(dp motosport)that can do the whole 4x4 cossie conversion for you(propper job)lol
