For some reason when my boost pressure hits 4psi the waste gate or the DV opens and all the air rushes out and I get no boost at all. What could cause this ????

maybe the diaphram in your wastegate has spilt. which dv have u got?? maybe the spring is broken and its openingly early. block off the the dv with a bit of broom handle and block the vacuum pipe if the prob goes away the dv is at fault if not look at the actuator. have u checked to make sure no vacuum pipes are connected properly???

I has the same problem with my RST it was the wastegate actuator spring had broken. Its a common problem as the actuator is under the turbo and the rad is in front so it always hot and that ends up breaking the spring. I would still try taking the D/V off first though. Ive just had a new turbo put on with a -31 actuator. The turbo was built by Turbo Technics last week and has only been on the car 2 days so I dont think it will be the waste gate spring!!!

You didnt say that before. Wasnt you playing with the amal valve the other day?

Right here we go.

The engine has just been rebuilt and Im having a few problems. The main one is the boost problem. For some reason the actuator is letting all the boost out at 4psi and I got no boost. The amal valve is ok Im just wondering if its some sort of ECU thing that stops me running too much boost, a sort of safety cut off.

did you set preload on the actuator shaft before fitting or after. doing this will increase boost before the actuator opens and releases boost

I didn't do a thing to the Actuator cuz it has been set up by Turbo Technics before hand. I just bolted it on.
