Hi all

This is my 1st post as a Series 1 owner, Love it!! Picked it up yesterday. A few probs tho. Knocking from front right wheel, seller says it isnt wheel bearings as he checked them. Told me this after I got home so I believe him. Good ol' boy. What else could it be - caliper seized ?? The steering is a little shakey if that helps. New discs I think are needed.

Also the speedo is a bit darn shakey so I dunno if I am doing ie 70 or 75!! Oh and the trip doesnt work???

Any help will be much appreciated.

No pics yet as no digi camera but I will have soon.

Thanx

Knocking from the front could be the bottom ball joint worn out !! Could also have something to do with the wobbly steering, unless the steering only shakes whilst braking which could be warped discs or wheel hubs http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/blush.gif
If the caliper is seized then it will most likely pull to one side or the other.
Cant remember about the speedo needle being shaky as its been a few years since i had one, but if the speedo works and the trip doesnt then i would think that you need a replacement speedo unit.
Well thats my thoughts anyway http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/grin.gif http://www.turbosport.co.uk/images/smilies/grin.gif

I had the same - it was the tca bottom ball joint.. just make sure if it's this you change them in pairs as the garage that did mine didn't - i ended up with on original s1 tca on one side and a longer (new cos s1 tcas are no longer available) series 2 one which really fucked up my handling until i got the s1 one changed to s2 as well!

Knocking is probably a bottom ball joint!!! Don't drive it untill you get it checked out cos if it comes apart you will write the car off.

Speedo fluttering is usually a worn speedo drive due to worn diff bearings......needs the box out unfortunately.
