Looks very nice, but you gotta lose the chrome mate:handbags:
Hows it running with that set up? Must go well :thumb:
Nice :thumb:
I like that, lovely & subtle & standard from the outside with the Zetec under the bonnet
Polish the alloys & treat yourself to some new number plates though [pref black & silver] :thumb:
you had it on a rolling road yet m8:thumb:

just keep it that way. well you could change your wheels for rusty steels and stop washing it.
so next time when you stop in traffic lights next to some annoying hippyhopkid reving 6-inline in his daddy's fancy new sporty bmw, where's backseat packed full of under aged girlies and you'll see them all laughing at you in your poor old escy.
well:cool: let me tell you...when lights turn to green, you'll show'em who's in charge :fight: :D
You've put some real effort into that motor, looks cracking:thumb:
Hope to be joining you v.soon:dance:

Well actually it was a Punto GT on the way back from the Ace on Tuesday. He was bouncing it off of the rev limiter next to me at the lights :hugh: so when the lights went green I gave him a nice head start and then floored it. Lets just say I couldn't even see him by the time second gear was done with  . And I'm scared to remove the chrome cos its probably hiding some nasty rust :D (still got the 1.3GL badge on the back too).
Standard look is deffo cool, love anice sleeper like that :thumb: :)
Looking good mate keep it looking standard then when you do slaughter sumin they will be devestated:thumb:
RChambers How old are you? How much Is It costing you on the Insurance and who you with? I Know Im about the same age as you. Car looks stunning mate!

I'm 22 (23 soon :D ) with 4 years no claims. Car insured on everyday policy with HIC, 6000 miles a year with track day cover, break down cover and agreed value of £3500. Total cost including rip off interest for monthly payment is £775 so not too bad. Would be £150 ish cheaper if I had the money to pay in one go though :wall:
what was over all build cost of the zetec conversion in ur escort??? have you got an lsd or rear turretts? what is the engine size & bhp? its a very decieving looking escort :D

The cost of just putting in the zetec was about 2k but as it already had a pinto in I made quite a lot of that money back selling the old pinto bits. Front end it sorted suspension wise but I haven't got round to the back yet so its standard apart from polybushing and bilstein dampers. Will be fitting anti-tramp bars and panhard rod soonish hopefully (and new rear tyres!!). Engine is 2 litre with approx 170bhp and it does indeed surprise quite a few people. I've got the whole zetec build documented in the zetec section of the forum so if you want to see details have a look.
Richard - are you going to boxhill tomorrow...?
Me and DanielBarnes will hopefully be there, and I know he wants to do the same with his mk2...and I'm interested to get a closer look too!
Perhaps convoy down there..?

Yeah I'll be at Box Hill tomorrow. I'm driving to Mk2Matt's house in Stoneleigh and driving there with him and Grant so I'll see you there!
That's how I like it:
Clean, simple.. Yet very fast. I'll be pissing my pence once my car is on the road.... 1100 badges... sweet looking.. 200-250bhp !
It even scares me a little.. Will I be able to behave ?!
Nahh...
By the way... I got pulled over in UK 3 times this year.. For speeding and so on. Got away with a warning altough at one point I was allmost arrested. I love my Dutch nationality ! I'll take my Escort to Britain once it is on the road... :D

cracking motor and you done a lovely job!
i love that sleeper look too.
the insurance is pretty cheap considering the speed of it, and your age!

Thats the beauty of oldskool. To have something modern with the same performance would cost twice as much to insure. The only sacrifice I have had to make is the lack of sound-proofing and stereo (oh and no heating but I might be motivated to fix that when it gets cold). Plus my car will be worth more and more as time passes rather than losing value like a modern car :)
How did you get the engine that far back ?

Its using Retro Ford engine mounts and sump. Sits as close to the bulkhead as you can get without modding it.
Hey mate that car is beautiful ! I always see it in Halfords carpark in staines and it just makes me wanna go old skool even more !
