MGBGT fia rally car and my mk2 4door
hi Folks,
everyone loves pics so i took a few recently on a spin with my brother :)
His MGB is a full FIA historic spec rally car, and has competed in the monte carlo and winter trial events to name a tiny few.
its an MG motorsport doug smith B-series bored out to 2 litres, 5 speed, lsd, fia cage, mg motorsport suspension, alloy bodypanels etc etc
my escort most of you know is now running a vauxhall 2L 16v on carbs and megajolt, 5 speed tranx, bilstein suspension, and all the other usual rally stuff.
enjoy! :thumb:
there is going to be alot of sibling rivalry this season :fight:

Re: MGBGT fia rally car and my mk2 4door
Both very nice
Have you put a straight cut box in yours?
Re: MGBGT fia rally car and my mk2 4door
no just the tranx long first kit, the BGT has the same setup
Re: MGBGT fia rally car and my mk2 4door
Didn't realise they did a kit too
Ill be putting one in mine eventually
My dad has an mgb sat on his drive I keep pestering him to so something with
Would be perfect for classic rallies
Re: MGBGT fia rally car and my mk2 4door
yeah they really are an unsung hero, this car has practically standard suspension just with some inexpensive mods and tweaks, and its won alot of classic rallies and lanes rallies outright - the previous owner (an escort fan himself) said it would outhandle any escort for these type of events. its incredibly stable over rough roads compared to my car that skips about in typical escort fashion. bags of torque too.
im still going to go the RX8 route i think when i get the motivation/time/cash to do it
Re: MGBGT fia rally car and my mk2 4door
I'd be interested in your box when it comes to it
I'll just sell mine on as standard much less hassle
Re: MGBGT fia rally car and my mk2 4door
Hate to be a picky bastard, but the MG doesn't meet FIA spec if it's got a 2L engine, and / or a 5 speed in it, neither of those were ever homologated for a B or BGT. Looks good though, as does the Escort.
