Re: Adam's Mk1 1100 2door
Get ya pics up then pal ! Sounds interesting cuz newt goes to plan haha ! Done far too many escorts with this intention and not one one has turned out as it was suppose to. Albeit for the better, but definatly more costly haha! Good look !

Re: Adam's Mk1 1100 2door
Evening all,
Got another day in,
Had some issues when it came to fitting the drivers side full length strut top,
http://media2.turbosport.co.uk/2011/...amed_23436.jpg
As can be seen the cup has been replaced and is in completely the wrong place, also not fitted very well,
http://media2.turbosport.co.uk/2011/...escort 019.jpg
http://media2.turbosport.co.uk/2011/...escort 020.jpg
Only one thing to do, chop it out!
http://media2.turbosport.co.uk/2011/...escort 021.jpg
Managed to save the cup and put a couple of spot welds on to hold it together till the RS strut top goes on, Will need some new verticals but atleast its in the right place now!
http://media2.turbosport.co.uk/2011/...escort 022.jpg
Starting to look like an Escort again!
http://media2.turbosport.co.uk/2011/...escort 024.jpg
http://media2.turbosport.co.uk/2011/...escort 025.jpg
That it for now,
Thanks for looking,
Cheers,
James
Re: Adam's Mk1 1100 2door
I knew some of the previous repairs left a lot to be desired but i didn't think it had been fudged so badly on that side. It looked OK from the top, just glad you've unearthed it.

Scary really,
It looked good (ish) from the top. Once the tops off though it looks like theres only a few tacks holding all that side together and also looks as if someones done a good job of butchering the uprights!!
Will be nice to know its sound under there though.
Cheers

Re: Adam's Mk1 1100 2door
Evening all,
Started of the day by fitting the RS strut top plate,
http://media2.turbosport.co.uk/2011/...escort 008.jpg
Followed by the strengthener and wing mounting rail fillet,
http://media2.turbosport.co.uk/2011/...escort 010.jpg
Then it all went a bit wrong!
When the car arrived it had one wing fitted, no bonnet etc, to cut along story short I spent all day fitting the wing, the gaps where all over the place, luckily I have other wings that I can try for fitment, anyway got there in the end, but did beat my head against the wall a fair few times!

Not quite as far forward, but tomorrow's another day!
Thats all for now,
Thanks for looking,
Cheers,
James

Re: Adam's Mk1 1100 2door
Evening all,
First up today, a bit of trimming req to the wing,
http://media2.turbosport.co.uk/2011/...escort 001.jpg
To make it look like this,
http://media2.turbosport.co.uk/2011/...escort 005.jpg
http://media2.turbosport.co.uk/2011/...escort 004.jpg
On to the N/S, RS strut top on,
http://media2.turbosport.co.uk/2011/...escort 016.jpg
Followed by the strengthener and fillet,
http://media2.turbosport.co.uk/2011/...escort 007.jpg
Time to fit the wing, door gap was not brilliant, door has had previous repairs and overlapped the sill edge,
http://media2.turbosport.co.uk/2011/...escort 008.jpg
Gave it a quick tickle with the grinder and welder to make the gaps better,
http://media2.turbosport.co.uk/2011/...escort 009.jpg
Mex lip on,
http://media2.turbosport.co.uk/2011/...escort 010.jpg
http://media2.turbosport.co.uk/2011/...escort 011.jpg
The old girl finally has a face again!
http://media2.turbosport.co.uk/2011/...escort 012.jpg
Thats all for now,
Thanks for looking,
Cheers,
James
