Are you sure it’s a 10mm thread you are trying to screw in and not 8mm? If it’s a Mk1 then the thread in the bonnet might be UNC.

    Re: Mk1 Escort Bonnet

Sorry to jump on your thread but I need some help and wanted to target someone with bonet hinge experience

I'm doing a complete rebuild of an escort, some bits are beyond my welding skills like the bonnet (as I just dont have one) I've contacted these guys motorsport tools as they sell bonnets as I'm local to north wales they said they'd give me a fairly big discount on my first order as explained my rebuild project with them and, guess they want all my future business.

This is the bonnet i'm looking to buy
    https://motorsport-tools.com/new-mag...net-steel.html

but my problem is I dont have hinges or a bonnet in place as the hinges have rotted away and previous owner said the bonnet was donated years ago

what else do I need to buy I'm guessing this is a bare bonnet and I'd need clasps hinges and seals, could anyone point me at some drawings or pictures or even a list of other parts motorsport-tools.com sell so I can get it all in one order to get more out of the discount they are offering me.

    thanks

    Thanks but

My problem is I need drawings and what's needed it's easy to work from something when you have the original bits but buying online is a guessing game with out bits and this is my first MK1 other vehicles I've rebuilt are beetle and a landrover series 1 but the escort is something fresh for me to play with.

And as motorsport-tools.com are local to me so I can pick up plus the massive discount they are offering means it's a no brainer for me to buy from them just really need to know what's needed for the whole bonnet setup.

Any help or links to start would be a great help to me.

Mk1 parts manual here, with drawings and partnumbers:

    http://calencar.free.fr/escort/index...manuel_mk1.htm

Go to section A3.20 / page 71 for the parts related to the bonnet.

Thanks that's a big help will take a look through them

Problem with mst is they don't have info on the website of what part fits what. And seem to lack any technical drawings, just sell the parts.

    Thanks again
