    escort cosworth question (HELP)!!!

    just underneath the throttle control valve there is a screw that is sunk in how many turns shout it be if i put it fully in ,ive got a goodes chip and full mongoose if any one can help cheers also im looking for the tick over screw (this isnt it by any chance) i changed the throttle control valve gasket as it was f*!Łed and know its idling at about 1200 rpm ,if i just blip the trottle it stays on about 1500 rpm for about 2-3 secs and then comes down can anyone help a newbie cheers lads

    that screw is the idle control screw, to adjust it you need the disconnect the idle control valve and set the base idle with the screw.

    ideally using a co meter as well.

    yep as Kel says disconnect the ISCV and adjust the screw under the throttle, you wan the engine to idle at 900 RPM with the ISCV disconnected, do this when the engine is at normal operating temperature. With it connected the revs should rise to about 1100 rpm when engine warmed up, higher when it's cold

    cheers for that wes ive done that but when you put the clutch in it still stays at about 1500 rpm for a few secs and then come down and ive noticed that the boost gauge is coming in about 1500 rpm as it use to come in about 2300-2500 prm so i think it is pulling air in still GOT ANY ADVISE ON IT cheers

    air leak, check all hoses are done up tightly and are secure. You could have a faulty dump valve (slpit diaphram if its that type etc), try blanking off the D/V to see if that is it. Also check tightness of throttle cable, maybe too tight
