a couple of more bits tto do on drivers door and then the passenger door
keep up the great work
Had a good look at the o/s door and decided to cut the door skin off below the swage line and make a new lower skin and joggle it under the cut line so as not to distort the panel ,this will also allow me to sand blast the inside of the door and treat it,and repair the corners. Will make the skin later in the week.If it works on this door will do the same with the other.
will put up pics of skin in week
very nice work
keep it up
Fair play to you mate great commitment there, keep it going
Started to repair corners and replaced reinforcing bar as it was badly bent.need some more sand blasting on the inside of the door and treat it.have joggled a sheet of steel and need to cut and mark up ready for folding the door skin over the frame.powerfile decided to stop working roller packed up,what a pain.
will put some more pics up later.
corner repair started
hope to get corners finished soon.
more done on corner of door and door support repaired
just a bit of cleaning up of the welds and then a couple of small holes to do and then onto the door skin
coming along now mate well done
i love my nurburgring buddy's ....................the lucky pig is my hero
Got a complete rear end yesterday rear qtrs and rear panel in good condition.
All the best with the resto Graham. It would take me a decade and a half to do that amount of work
What's the history behind the Cortina?
Usual story sat outside with wildlife growing through and living in the car probably for 10yrs people asked to buy it but owner would not sell.It had an axe put into the front wing! had a V6 in it but must of rattled like a good un had washers spacing the bellhousing to the engine and the gearbox mount drilled through the floor.
Ill put pictures up of the rear end later.
So,did the previous owner race it? How come it has a rollcage in it already. I was at Manchesters CLassic Ford Meet last night, some tasty MK1's
The one in the middle,it took the owner 11 years to restore it
Heres some pics of rear end i acquired. Its had a few repairs but on the whole just what i needed.
going to unpick the whole rear end drill out the spot welds .Need the rear qtrs and rear valance/boot surround and some bits of the floor.
Pg tips is on hold at moment still collecting parts.Need a front panel and or lower valance. Will crack on with the old girl over winter.hopefully will have access back to my garage
omg !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats some project
After a front panel or valance for PG tips please?
Hello Graham I just read your thread, you like a challenge.
Your metalwork skills are 1st class, is it your trade.
I will ring you about a possible front pannel.
Got front panel today needs a small bit of work where the side lights/indicator go and where the bumper iron comes through apart from that its pretty straight its taken ages to get one.
