mx 5 engine into mk2 escort
Hi just wondering if anyone out there has ever fitted mk1 mx5 1.8 engine and box into a mk2 escort
I no what every one will say 'go zetec' but I don't fancy payin the premium price for all the parts to fit it
Just seems to me mx5's are cheap and am looking to use the full engine injection system wiring ecu etc
Any help greatly appreciated

Re: mx 5 engine into mk2 escort
i was going to do this a while ago, and looked into it a good bit, no real downfalls really! you need to use and early engine though, as the later ones have all sorts of immobilizer crap that can make the wiring very troublesome, i will look up the details that i got and post them here. the only reason i didnt in the end was lack of time to complete it, but i still might down the road

Ok cheers for that, have done a bit of research and to me seems fairly simple tranplant I have plenty of mechanical knowledge and would rather do that as I am trying not to let the spending get out of control

mx 5 engine into mk2 escort
I'm planning to put a 1.6 mx5 engine into my mk1.
I'm going to pick up the donor mx5 on Sunday.
From what I have read they do go in easily, but the tunnel is to small for the standard mx5 box, so you would need to put a big tunnel in it or cut the crap out of the original.
Here some links which may give you some help.
