It,s based on a 1745cc BDA ( BDG = 2.0L ) with closed decks on both head and block.
It can go quick , made some calls today and maybe I don,t have to make a car

Or................ this to wrap around the engine ??
Please dont tell me youve found a genuine zak capri!!
With that block casting # i really think its origin is a '81 Escort RS1700T
http://www.rsownersclub.co.uk/car_info/esc31700t.htm
Most of the 200 engines buildt for the RS1700T were eventually put into the RS200, that can also explain the turbo placement.

As I already wrote twice the engine is shortly used in a group 6 car , in fact this week I,ve spoken to the guy that drove the group 6 car it was a Sauber C5 he had bought the engine (I even know the price which came out of a Capri )from Zakspeed where the engine also had his rebuild.
Zakspeed also mounted the engine into the Sauber.
If everything go,s according to plan I,m making a trip to Germany and Belgium this weekend and speak to this guy who is also a good friend of a old Zakspeed mechanic that should still have some Capri stuff in his cellar.

isnt it amazing that ALL old mechanics took some pieces home ?? i spoke to another 1 and he said the same but sold all he had to mücke a while back. one would beleive that zakowski or the company owned it but no, on their last day at the job all of them came with a lorry.....
The capri engine was the original BDT, which later found use in the RS1700T and the RS200, albeit in slightly different specs for each, as you would expect given the different disciplines.

Hi Yanmarman,
Thanks for the offer I did send you my email adress.
This BDT has got the 8 instead of 4 oilsquirters this was a modification by Zakspeed , they did tend to burning the intake side of the piston if you like I can send you some pictures of it.
I also found a new mech. VDO rpm dial as they used on at least one of the Capri's
I'm still looking for this kind of turbopressure dail.

You mention about the Piston cooling. This runs very hot on the Inlet side of the Piston This old timer engine Builder & zakspeed Introduced a Metered Oil injector to cool the correct inlet side of the Piston . With Superb Results .
