Can someone explain"Multiple Occupancy" ???

Theres a statuatory notice at the bottom of my block of flats that says one of the other flats has applied for multiple occupancy. I'm not sure exactly what it means.
Is it trouble?? ....me hoping not

it will be a notice from the planning department, so you can object to their planning application if you like. your objections need to relate to planning policy though, dont say anything like "tommy down the street might go round on his skateboard" you need to say things like:

it will effect you and your property
increase noise levels
attract lower standard of resident and higher turnover of residents
possibly make other decent people in the block leave, and crapper people move in
effect property prices
you dont want no asylum seekers moving in
effect security in the block

etc

Funily enough it was explained on Property Ladder last night. Thanks for your replies guys. It turns out to be three Students paying their rent seperately. They are all girls so I might just have to go down and ask them personally!

There are different (harder) rules for multiple occupancy i.e. 3 people pay separately than one person taking the tenancy and letting rooms out.
