    type 9 layshaft

    Should the layshaft on a type 9 gearbox have movement in it if so what would be classed as acceptable ?

    Do you mean.the input shaft ? That will wobble a+/- a mm or 2

    ye shaft the clutch would be on
    I would sa I ha between five to eight mm of movement

    Yeap - mine had less than that - 'bout 3mm - but gearbox man changed the bearing whilst it was apart - pennies to do and it doesn't wear tighter! LOL

    anyone no a site that gives you a guide on stripping the box down to do such repairs as this bearing and so on

    Yes, it's on here lol.
    You could always just try it, it's got a spigot bearing supporting it once fitted.
    But yes, it won't get better

    Cant find it fella
    only the tutorial on how to convert to take a type 9 box
