Question Getting your Tel no or address removed from lists?

Right I'm getting fed up of all these phone callers selling stuff etc and the junk mail addressed to me. My phone number is not listed either. I know there is a website where you can go on and get your name/address/tel details removed from these lists the companies use, but what is it? or does anyone know of any other sites or methods of doing this (not the method either).
I usually let them rabbit on a bit then tell them I only rent the place or tell them I'm just a burgular and broke into the house and yes the windows fitted are from their company. LOL.

    www.tpsonline.org.uk for phone calls
    www.mpsonline.org.uk for mail

Takes a few weeks to go through though but cuts out 90% of stuff

Agree with the TPS idea - we are registered here and hardly get anything at all.

One other thing is to never buy shares, or if you do give your fax number as a contact - shareholder registers are available at minimal cost (£5 or so) and nothing will stop stockbrokers from getting those lists and calling them over and over again to drum up business.

Bet you can't guess what I do for a living...

I signed up ages ago, but was still getting junk mail. Went on a bit of a wild goose chase, but you won't beleive where it ended!

Phoned this company, to be removed from their mailing list. They said they get their info from Yell.com. So phoned them up, and they gave me the same answer, said they get all their info from.....

    Experian! The credit reference agancy.

Re: Getting your Tel no or address removed from lists?

Usually I let the answerphone screen the calls but if I do pick up to one, I say hello, then hello again halfway through their pitch, as if I can't hear them. Hello a couple more times and then a 'no one there' to an imaginary person next to you then hanging up, does it every time.
