Went to a job interview yesterday. I am from the North East and had to travel to Tamworth in Staforfshire.
Had a very good initial chat/interview and then a factory tour. Went back to the board room to have more indepth chat/interview and give my findings of their operation etc when we were interupted by a young man enquiring as to whether the Mondeo in the car park was mine. I confirmed it was and he then told me that the window had been smashed.
It seems that someone was either watching me park up or was a complete opportunist as the drivers window was smashed and my sat nav and mobile phone was stolen from the glovebox.
I always make sure that my sat nav is never on display if I have to leave it in the vehicle and whilst interviewing I never take my phone in with me as it could be the source of distraction.
The firm is based on an open plan type industrial estate with no perimeter fencing. The two chaps who were the directors of the firm were absolutely gutted. They were insistant that nothing like this had ever happened before.
One of the warehouse lads took my car and hoovered it out and put a sheet of polythene over the window apperture whilst I continued my interview.
On the way home I got a little lost as I had never been in Tamworth ever before and I ended up going home the long way - oh for my sat nav. I got home at about 8.30pm.
I just hope I land the role as if its a no what a double whammy that would be.
It seems these days that people are going to look in your glovebox by any means to see what you may have - don't stand a chance really.
Lastly, if anyone has a cheap sat nav available then I am very interested as I need one for future interviews and I dont have too much spare money to just go and replace it.
I sincerely hope none of my TS fellow members ever suffer the inconvenience I have just been through.
