    Turbo Pinto Help....

The ongoing saga of my Pinto Turbo project.
    (sometimes wish I hadn`t bothered)

I took advice on here and removed the Cossie injectors,
standard ones are now back in place and after replacing
the brand new plugs with brand new plugs there is a
definite improvement but it`s still not good.

It starts to boost then sort of hesitates and seems to
hold back and wont boost at all really you only know there`s
a turbo there cos of the dump valve.

Airflow meter was fannyed around with when Cossie injectors were
fitted more tweeking has ensued. Started smoking on tickover ,
think Turbo seals are knackered, compression test was fine.
Even so surely it should still boost performance to some degree
even with less than perfect seals.

    Any ideas gratefully received.

if it revs then seems to cut out i would be looking at the throttle position sensor because when this fooks it causes probs

have you got any photos of your engine bay i.e. the way you have set up the air flow meter to turbo, turbo to intercooler, intercooler to inlet.
Have you got the restrictor fitted to the oil feed to the turbo?
Are you running a twin piston dump valve and where is it fitted.
Have you got a test meter to check the throttle pot?
How have you got the actuator set up, i.e. piping and adjustment.

    Right,
    No pics, camera`s buggered.
Airflow meter is basically mounted direct onto
turbo, a pipe runs from afm to front of car
    ending in a cone filter.
Intercooler mounted slightly above afm and
12 to16 inches forward of turbo.
Couldn`t say about restrictor as far as I know
oil feed pipework is standard Turbotechnics.
Yes it`s a twin piston DV mounted in pipe
    halfway between intercooler and inlet.
Never checked a throttle pot do you just
    use a multimeter?
Turbo came off of RS Turbo as far as I know
actuator is as was with the addition of a
    bleed valve.

    Re: Turbo Pinto Help....

if it missfires as it starts to come on boost try closing down the plug gaps,

certainly big power turbos need small gaps and my turbo beemer engine is very fussy about its gaps any bigger than 18 thou is a no go for it, i normally run 15 thou now. it also doesn't like std type plugs it wants the very fine tipped irriduim plugs, as these small electrode plugs need less voltage to produce a spark

i found if mine was missing due to plugs etc when the boost started to come in if i immediatly got out the throttle and instantly floored it again it would clear and rev properly
