Where can i buy a second hand sequential gearbox for mk2 escort?

Very new to this site so not sure if this has been aswserd before but i cant find it.

Im looking to buy a second hand sequential gearbox for my current project but can not seem to find one for sale anywhere!
does any one know of any good places to look or even better have one for sale?

i found one on ebay, the 26z is the easier type 9 swap but not as straight forward as some people will lead you believe, mine came from Ireland and cost me £2600, then another £325 for the gear display and then another £370 for a new 2 piece prop and £100 for a vibra technics mount, if i could of afforded the 60g i would of got one but this was a stepping stone til later on when funds allow. Go for the 6 spd with overdrive

Caution must always be applied when buying a second hand gearbox especially a Quaife one. They are notorious for changing the design of the dogs and slider discs, so when you ring them up to ask for parts you are told the bad news, you'll have to wait for a batch to be made as and when they get enough orders. They want you to buy a complete new set of gears and discs a vast expense. I experienced it with them many years ago with them with a 4x4 Escort Cosworth gearbox, luckily I managed to obtain a damaged second hand box with good parts that I required.

My advice would be save the extra money and buy a brand new one, that way you should at least get the most up to date design.

On the subject of spare parts what are the most common parts to replace in a sequential?

best price for a quaife 60g is camillus bradley motorsport, he is £500 cheaper retail than what most uk suppliers can buy them trade, excellent guy to deal with and really quick delivery from stock

That depends on the gearbox, and the driver ( and shift setup )

A well designed and looked after should give years of service with barely no parts needed.

One that's been abused or crap could need thousands spent often.

That's very true I did realise that I was asking a "how long is a bit of string type question"

I'm also very tempted by a sequential but it's big ££££ just don't want the maintenance bill being too high every year having never owned/used one before I'm not sure what to expect

As said, if it's installed and used correctly, then it should run for a very long time with little or no maintenance.

Bad shifting or shift setup...can destroy any box in a very short period of time though
