Duck Pierburg Solex EEIT 35 floating

    Hi guys:-)

    I have recently bought a Transit mk2 2.0LC pinto :-)
It was fitted with a VV carb, where the choke system was dismantled, and the cam was worn down.
So I fitted a 2.0 cam and a 4/2/1 exhaust manifold, together with the new carb. Now I pulls so much better :-)

But when idle, the carb is floating over, and when i look down thru it, I can see, fuel dripping out of the main jet, and down on the throttle valve. I is an Pierburg Solex EEIT 35 from a Cologne 2.3 V6. With the original jets, so fare... When I start it, with the lid of, and i watch the needle valve, it seems to close fine. So I suspect the float level to be to high? But I can't find any data, on how high the level should be... Any other suggestions is much appreciated as well :-)

    Best regards
    Chris Denmark

    Chris,

original jets will be fine for the 2.0 Pinto.
Float level is 11.0 +/- 0.5 mm for this carb.

    Regards, Leon.

Thanks Leon Is the height measured to the top of the surface , where the lid is laying on? And is it the top of the float I measure from?

Anyone know the pressure for a VV carb and the Solex? I think the pump is giving to mutch fuel...

Guess it is the same as for the Weber carbs.

Fuelpressure for any carb is the same; about 0.3 bar although a needle valve should be able to handle alot more.

Now I have adjusted the height to 11mm from float top to lid "edge" and the needle valve is now closing - so far so good But it still has a uneven idle - it goes up and down in rpm, and it squrits fuel out of the small brass pipe in the venturi, when the idle gets low I don't have any drawings of the carb, but is that from the acceleration pump?

Uneven idle could be a air leak near the inlet manifold.
Don't know that Solex carb but if it's a vacuum operated acceleration pump then when the idle goes low the vacuum goes away and pump squirts a bit of fuel and idle goes up again.
