Sweet looking car mate
Saw that on ebay, was £2k wasnt it....very cheap if its as solid as he says
I did think if only it was nearer
So is it gonna be the daily runner then??
Yeah Dave thats the one mate-it is very good looking, was gonna drive it home the other day but rear brakes are solid. So trailering her home tonight hopefully. More pics to come when i've had a good look over her-theres some bits that need doing but it does look good. The logbook says the build code is HB which makes it a January '68-is that quite early? Also between the front panel and bumper theres an extra panel bridging the two-whats that all about never seen one like that before?
I'm hoping to get her thru an MOT soon-change the front struts to discs-drums up front nice!! Also got the 12" steelies for it lol-slam over those should look sweet!! Maybe a nice x-flow too-really not sure yet dont want to change this one too much at all.
More pics soon.

Can you get a picture of the bridging panel, I've seen it in parts books but never seen one in real life.Originally Posted by meXEco

David
Yes David compression struts running back to chassis rails somewhere. No roll bar fitted-i was gonna swap the whole lot over from my other mk1 which has discs and arb. I'll get a pic in a mo!!

mmm nice motor
Thanks for the pictures John.
I really can't think of a reason for this, but they must have had one, to go to the trouble of tooling up to press the piece and spot weld it to the front panel.
In my parts book it says "bumper to front body air deflector" and was fitted from 9/68 - 3/69, these things have been known to be wrong though.
Looks like a really nice early car, what is the colour? has it been resprayed?
David

I have one of those bridging things on mine as well as it's a 68 car but as I am changing the front panel dont think it will look good with qtr bumpers on
well put it this way, the mk1 was launched on the 10 th jan 1968, the day before i was born so yes she is very very early, i dream about finding a jan 68 twin cam - prob never will.Originally Posted by meXEco

Cheers...vinny
Cheers guys-the colour on the chassis plate puts it at Dragoon Red-but it has been resprayed since-not too well either.
Few more pics....

I can't believe the condition of this as it's a 68 model. Suspect top plate areas as people put strut braces on to cover the area up, you can see in the pan cup area. Not seen a washer bottle on that side either or has it been a long time since I've had a mk1. Don't chuck the vinyl seats out as bufty boys like to fit them back into their concourse (spl) cars.
CheeRS Nat
Various parts for sale! Just ask.
Now where's that Lotto ticket!!
PS3 gametag: NR_Speed
Very nice good buy
Not seen a washer bottle on that side either or has it been a long time since I've had a mk1.
My washer is on that side as well mines 68 but not as early
Yep the early cars have them that side and they bolt to the bulkhead top rather than mount onto the bubble. And also notice the bubble goes to a point either side, amongst lots of other differences to the next mk1.
Also amazed of the condition considering theres no underseal on it Id be restoring it back to original and flogging it for loads Get it on the spit if you still have it and do the underneath properly and then redo the struttops properly as it looks like its on top of the old rustyness from them pics
Well worth the money though
Thats kinda my idea Dave-the 1100 thats in there now seems a bit smokey to say the least-so maybe a nice 1600 in there for the time being-then try and get her smartened up bit by bit-while keeping a stock look. I dont know if the motor is the original one or not-i'll rebuild it if it is-keep everything i swap over for daily use then if it come to selling i have the original go slowly bits lol. Maybe expensive finding some nice trim bits mind-just like the white one in this months CF!!

Lovely car
Fords where defenantly consistantly inconsistant, my 68 1300gt has a first reg date of 22/02/68 but a build date of may1973 (BB48NB). Thought it was just a cock up with the logbook,so sent off for the old books and even the 1968 buff book has a N instead of H the vinplate says the same.
Bumpty bump John what you been doing the last 3 years
So your plate reads NB where it should be HB like mine?? Thats a bit weird??
Sorry been working on project meXEco for the past 3 years-the other '68 will be given a going over as soon as the its done.

Just like Arnie, ITS BACK!
That engine does sound nice John, forgot what fantastic condition the car is in .
Cheers G it does need a bit of work now both sills, spare wheel well and a bit around rear scuttle maybe a few other little bits but yeah she's a solid little car.

Cool nice to see an early mk1 go under the knife
Well its gonna be a few months yet before the work starts as Trev is a busy man, but I have been getting some nice bits together. Along with the engine I have a Tranx rocket box, just bought a Burton alloy bellhousing for hydraulic clutch-a proper one not the internal jobby. It has an AP twin plate sintered clutch and skeleton flywheel which I will be swapping out for a more road friendly clutch setup. New big header rad (stage1), electric water pump, redtop fuel pump and filtering. Proper twink pedalbox (stage1) with remote servo (again a stage1 product). 3.7 diff. Twink dash and new flocked dashtop. Banded steels with caps. Single piece prop. New oil cooler kit (stage1). Early weld on rollbar mounts and correct spec tramp bars again all stage1 products. Billies up front with new spaced M16's. Twink rollbar. New 1/4 bumpers (stage1).
Its not going to be completely restored ie painted etc. but all the rot removed and new panels where needed plus new mex wings and trying to keep the patina'd look. Standard early seats and steering wheel. So she should look fairly innocuous from the outside but have the beating heart of a lion! Can't wait.

What a shell.... 2006 doesn't seem that long ago but try picking up a shell in that condition now.
What a steal.
Be good to see this one progress,
Shaun
Weird pepper pots on a mk1 escort looks horrific, yet i paid good money to get a pair powder coated for a mk2 fiesta a few years ago
Yeah weird choice not mine tho lol.
