    Max Attack French Historic Race Escort MK2 RS2000 Gp1

    Hi Everyone,

    Fancy a little on board video in an Escort MK2 RS2000 Gp1 ?

    Well here you go, this is race 2 of the last round of the Historic Car Championship in Charade (France) a couple of weeks ago on board the car I have prepared for my friend Pierre François CLOT.
    Following a DNF in race one, he started this race 30th on the grid to finish 3rd.
    Charade for those of you who know this track is not very forgiving with walls in all the wrong places.
    One of my favorite part is at 3.20, watch the wall !!! (but there are plenty more like this such as drifting the car at 100mph in long sweeping curves with no margin for error, or the fight with the Vauxhall Magnum halfway though the video - mental !).

    What was the reason for the DNF in race 1?

    Diff but we are trying to get to the bottom of it to find exactly what happened. What we know is that the Pinion nut came loose and flew away (guy following him saw it fly off LOL) but trying to determine if this is the cause of the all thing packing up or the result of something else (bearing failure perhaps that in turn caused the pinion nut to come loose etc ???).

    Shame really as had qualified on pole and was leading the race with a 2 second lead after 3 laps when all went wrong.

    Fortunately, some of our competitors with an MK2 as well are based not far from that track and had all the spares in their workshop to rebuild the English overnight (diff was actually ok but as you can imagine, CWP gone, front nose gone, bearings gone etc etc).
    This is what I really like about this championship, they fight tooth and nails on the track but in the paddock everybody is trying to help one another to make sure you can make the race.

    Very good drive in a car with a strong engine.

    What spec is the pinto ? 2ltr on idf's & std cast ex manifold ?

    Correct (I believe Pierre François has spoken to you early this year Miniliteman ;-) ) .
    With Piper Gp1 cam and electronic ignition (organisers of the championship have allowed a couple of derogations to the strict Gp1 rules, electronic ignition being one and Aluminium rad the other).
