    Pinto Spark Plug Adaptors

An absolute must for any tuned pinto, this is one of the key items used in a HT Pinto and ensures the ignition dosnt break down when the engine is tuned.

These are normally only available to customers of HT Racing and thier customers, and thier customers, customers, friends and family and local farmers......

I have convienced then to sell them separately.

The satandard pinto plug is very poor quality and suffers from heat problems, these adaptors allow the use of motorcycle plugs and allow the choise of many different heat ranges.

A set of Adaptors delivered to your door £40 pm me if interested.

Pretty sure when you tune an engine you need to use a colder plug as more power = more heat and so if you use a standard plug in a mad engine it will break down (and sometimes melt and hole pistons???)

    Re: Pinto Spark Plug Adaptors

yes basically the more you tune an engine the hotter the combustion chamber temps if the plug is too hot ( some would say soft) at best it starts the breakdown electrically and you get a missfire at worse it can either start glowing and causing pre ignition or even melt its electrode, either can cause major engine failure.

if you go the otherway and use a plug too cold (or hard) it wont stay clean and missfires are likely to result.

engines in a mild state of tune should stick with the standard plug grade highly tuned but not full on competition engines one grade harder plug is usually best.

the best and only real way to sort the correct plug grade is to get your engine set up properly so you know the full power mixture is spot on, then find the plug grade with gives the ideal rich tea biscuit colour on the insulator

full monty competition engines can be a real swine to get the right plug for, quite often the grade required for race use is just to cold for starting and slow speed work, a which is why you find a fair few racers fit std plugs to warm up engines and run around the paddock and scruitineering with and only put race plugs in before they go out on circuit.

high boost turbo cars can be even worse, needing very cold plugs for flatout running but are quickly fouled when they are not running flatout due to the very rich mixtures they tend to run, i went through 4 different types and several differnt plug gaps before i found what worked in my motor, even then i have to avoid too many cold starts without driving it hard or it will strat missfiring and the only cure then is a new set of plugs

i guess theres a second hidden benifit, less danger of the pistons hitting the side electrode on engines with heavily skimmed heads and pistons high up in the block.
