I have mk1 that had a speaker mounted in that rear centre parcelshelf hole. Seemed like a factory fitted item.
It's a german made 1974 1300l.
Great thread btw!

A fair amount of work has gone into ensuring the wings sit correctly on the car.
Firstly the inner wing mounting rails were at the wrong angle - these were 'tapped' into the correct position.
The self tapping screws are used to hold the wing in position as 'adjustments' are made. These will be removed once the wing is welded into its final position.
Lovely work that.
Not done in ten minutes either.
Will be a sweet shell

Wow that's a lot of filler!
You're doing a grand job though and the thread is a great reference for others to use
What was really surprising was the difference in quality of the arches.
The ex-pressed steel arch is thicker
This is the Magnum Arch
And the ex-pressed arch itself is more defined - possibly hand finished as opposed too just punched out of a press.
The only down side is they are 3-4 times the price of the Magnum equivalent panel, but well worth it IMHO.
Magnum panels are awful, unfortunately I've only realised this after purchasing and fitting a few
Looking great you are doing a very thorough job. Well done so far
I really appreciate all the detailed pictures and info regarding fitment, thanks for the effort of creating such a thread about your restoration. This will help me in the future for reference Keep on the good work!
