What's the bellhousing off matey? I know there a few variables with the type 9. Why not use a t5?
Not sure what it's off but it marries up to a 2.0 Sierra sandwich plate. Think the problem is the yb sump is slightly wider. Wondered if there was a thinner bodied starter I could use.
As for t5 I'm using ap clutch and quaife straight cut dog box for rally use
What flywheel are you using?
its not dead till it's buried!

Assuming this is a n/a cosworth, I would havethought you are using RS2000 bellhousing etc. from the pics that looks like a cossy sump that may be the cause of you issues. I don't know for sure but worth a look as i would imagine it normally be an RS2000 type setup with the sump etc I know this isn't probably the best sump but maybe you need the cossie sump modding to get the starter in.
Like i say i have never done it but that would be the path i would take if building a n/a cossie it is basically a pinto with a fancy head

Yes it is cossie sump (winged and baffled) I didn't want to go down the shallow rs2000 route.
Which yes I might have to mod to get starter in unless I can find one with narrower body ( hence reason for thread to see if anyone knows of one. Before I start cutting sump
Just had dig around and found one on evil bay think will do it, as it has a neck on and body seems to be more away from sump.
Top is one i have.
Bottom I one I'm looking at buying I if you look body sits further back from fitting ring.
Let's hope anyway as I'm just about to be 80 quid lighter
looks like a good gamble, as longs a the mounting face fits next to the sump the rest looks like it stands a better chance. Given your engine and gearbox £80 will be a drop in the ocean but it's never nice throwing money away
Gamble payed off IT FITS
had the same issue with the cossy sump !
I used a wosp one, and bought same one as yours on evilbay as spare, both work fine, even if in my case, it's the other side of the sump.
